Gah! Really? That information needs to be posted somewhere visible! I guess it will soon be too late to use the codes?

Then it must be dependent upon where one's server is?

What I meant was (and I wasn't clear on this; my apologies) is that I am in Peru.

Too, my account is registered as a UK account.

Sorry for the confusion.

No server at all. For Kobo, it doesn't matter where you are but where your account is.

For those interested in SF and not finding much to use the coupons on, this is what I have scooped up during the sale. Some were new, some were paperback replacement. I thought it might give others some ideas. I have been very happy to get a number of items on my wish list, even if they weren't on the top of the list.

Don I've tried to buy in Peru the same way you appear to go about it.

My account was changed to being UK based, I chose the book and then in the Payment Methods part of the purchase screen I used 'Edit Info' and changed the country to Peru. The Peruvian price reflects the change - the cost is now in USD.

I then entered:

75% code - A7JT64 ..... it didn't work

perkopolis ....... it didn't work

sav50 ..... it worked.

The book I chose for this exercise was Alan Bradley's The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie (Flavia de Luce).

How do you do go about it?

I really liked her Retrieval Artist series, but I couldn't get past the fact that she wrote the Diving Universe in first person, PRESENT tense. Every time I try, I think it sounds like a couple of teenagers at the mall (just insert a few "likes": "So, I like go to this store and find the perfect game!"

Following on from that I tried the 75% code on a book in the UK and it worked, so I changed the country to Peru in the 'Edit Info' and the USD price reflected the change, I tried the same 75% code on the book and it didn't work - but sav50 did.

The book I tested on was: Kerry Greenwood's Death by Water

None of the codes I got exceeded the old 40% off PERKOPOLIS, so I didn't bother to post them. If anyone really wants a 25% code, PM me.

But I have used a few 75% codes -- thanks, folks!

The only book I got that might be worthy of note was Tabula Rasa, by Ruth Downie. It's the sixth, and latest, in her mystery series featuring Ruso, a doctor in the Roman Empire. It just came out this month. (At the list price of $14.75, I would have borrowed a copy from the local library. Or picked up the Kindle edition for $5.99.)

I'm finding it harder to switch countries. Many times the change doesn't take effect and I have to hit "save" a few times before Kobo actually makes the switch. I wonder if this is part of the new Kobo trying to limit cross-border purchases.

I just used this 75% off code - CRLSB4 - from post #9886 [Apesmom], for "Gaslight Arcanum: Uncanny Tales of Sherlock Holmes."

...so I bought the darn thing!

Since my account was set up as a UK account (and I live in Peru), the savings went from 3.13 pounds down to .90 pounds.

Translated, that means I got the book for $1.49

At Amazon, the price is $4.99

My credit card is a US-based card, with a US bank.

Thank you for all the 75% codes, folks. I've been on a spending spree today with those, buying mostly New York Review Books.

I bought 18 books during the contest using a mixture of 75 and 65% codes. All I obtained from here as I got nothing higher than 35%, so that's again to all those who posted codes.

People are venting about not being able to travel with coupons, but I've realized that what's bothering me most with these codes is the increasing percentage of kepubs-only. I came close to pulling the trigger on two expensive books which I could justify only on the grounds that 75% off coupons may get fewer and fewer (if it wasn't for the per account glitch this time, I'd have been out of luck), but fortunately checked just before hitting buy. I've bought a few kepubs which I've justified because I really, really wanted to read them and I have devices I can read them on, but I don't want any more. Certainly I don't want a less-desirable format for a pricey book (even after the discount).

I tried asking my associate rep what the deal was/is with kepubs--why they exist, would they be more common or less...trying to get the scoop. Didn't help. He didn't know (or wouldn't say?). I don't know if it helped at all, but I figured putting a bug in SOMEONE'S ear about how much they are loathed couldn't hurt.
