It blew the iPad away in ease of use and response time? Well, there's something I don't believe.

Is editing a PDF-document easy on the iPad?

Editing a PDF document is not easy on ANY platform. Annotating a PDF is one thing. Editing what's already there is a very different kettle of fish. Realistically all you can do is edit the source from which the PDF was created, and then re-create the PDF from that original source document.

There isn't much we can learn from that obviously biased article other than "goodereader" selling out good "reviews" to any company which pays enough.

I think it's a marvellous device, but also outrageously over-priced.

Now we also know that we can't really scribble and draw (on pdf page) on iPad Air , I guess I'm lucky then to have sticked with iPad 1 & 4

If by editing you mean scribbling, drawing, highlighting etc. then yes, because there are dozens of very good free or paid pdf readers.

Anyone managed to get an external keyboard to work with it yet?

Since it has a browser, I can get away with using an online basic word-processing tool for the task I have in mind.

That was better. Thanks! Similiarly over-enthusiastic but you get a good picture. It looks better than I imagined it would. I'm surprised how smoothly it pans and zooms - I've never seen that level of performance from an e-reader before.

If just it weren't so very expensive, I'd immediately get one - well, perhaps the openness/hackability is still an issue, but sooner or later everything can be cracked

No, it isn't on any platform, as PDF wasn't designed to be edited. Annotating though, is extremely easy on the iPad.

Sony Now Selling the Digital Paper DPT-S1 Online (USA addresses only)

http://goodereader.com/blog/electron...-dpt-s1-online

As it says: " Anyone can now order the Sony Digital Paper e-reader directly off of the Sony website, but you have to live in the United States in order to have it shipped out. One thing that made me chuckle is during checkout, if you select Canada it says “We are happy to accept payment from international billing addresses, but we do not ship internationally.” "

Interestingly, they haven't released it for general sale in Japan.

Sony loves playing jokes to customers with that unbelievable high price. How could an simple Ereader deserve that much with a plastic and metals?

It is not an e-Reader, it is a document management tool.
Readers aren't their target.
