Ever since the PW1 I wanted a front lit ereader. But the combination of the screen and lighting problems and the fact that it's very cumbersome to return a Kindle for me (I live in the Netherlands) I held off.
Last year I bought the Kobo Aura HD. Which I loved despite it's quirks and weight. However, about six weeks ago my Aura HD started to have problems. After spending an afternoon trying to find a solution, including several factory resets, I gave up and got out my trusty old Kindle 4. I fell in love again. The screen is clearer and because it's non touch the screen stays clean of smudges. It also feels a lot more stable than the Aura HD. I do miss several things that the Aura HD has; light, more options in fonts, font sizes, line spacing, margins. My wishlist for the PW3: * more font options * more options for font size, margins and line spacing * front lit * touch screen * page turn buttons like the Kindle 4 * available in brick and mortar stores in the Netherlands (or the option to buy one from one of the European Amazon stores). |

I use an app for reading on my phone that allows scrolling. I was used to that from my Palm Pilot reading days. Most of the ereaders on the Pilot scrolled.
I've never really liked auto-scroll though. I always preferred to just slide it up with my finger, manually. I didn't think of scrolling when I made my post earlier but it is the feature I'd most like to see. I don't expect it on an e-ink screen but I'd love to have it. Scrolling gives me a feeling of freedom while reading that I really enjoy. Barry |

Basically I want them to copy every feature of the Kobo Aura HD EXCEPT for its buggy software.
As long as I'm dreaming, I'll add switching to the latest latest Android OS as well and giving system-level access; letting me choose CoolReader as my eReader of choice. Of course, none of this is gonna happen, both for practical reasons (Android) and monopoly reasons (just about everything else.) Kindle faces no real competition any more, at least in the US since its competitors are offshore and have distribution problem as well as either software problems (Kobo) or hw problems (many, many others). Instead, they've been taking features *away* like user fonts (without jailbreaking, any way) and they might just as well have taken collections away since there are now about a million dialogue boxes which pop up when you try to add side-loaded books to a collection. Want 4gb and live in the US? Fuggetaboutit. NOT having an sd card and and cumbersome collections are deliberate choices on their part because they want you to only use Amazon books on the device and store them on their servers. It's enough to make me buy a Kobo -- bugginess and all -- just to express my displeasure. Kindle eReader is what happens when you've got no real competition. |

Why paperwhite 3 but not a whole new serie?
New design, new killer-feature like the glowlight in paperwhite. |

Because of brand recognition.

Fair enough. None would be of relevance to me, but if other people find them useful, so be it. I've managed with non-waterproof PCs, phones, tablets, and readers for an awful lot of years.

For me the bath would be the biggest thing. Not so much dropping it in the bath but just the humidity from a 30 minute read. That can't be good for electronics.

I guess I could hear it for spilled drinks, but I certainly don't plan on spending any extra money for a feature I would never really use. It would be very unwise of Amazon to do the same as Kobo, unless they plan on running two hardware lines. Most Kindle buyers are probably NOT the ones spending money on premium ereaders, and would not take kindly to having no option but to pay extra for waterproofing. |

I'm definately buying the Aura H20, I'd still like a new PW but the Aura is a must have.
Two weeks of sitting in the surf reading, or dangling my legs in the pool, plus reading in the bath the rest of the year makes it worth every penny. |
