I'm not a power user and am quite happy to update every week when updates are released, or sporadically when I can't be bothered to spare a few minutes to manually download and install the latest version. Anyone who uses Calibre must be pretty well aware that Kovid updates it frequently, so if it bugs you, turn off the notification feature and just remind yourself whenever it suits you personally to get the latest update. Problem solved!? |

For the next update from 2.0, it is highly recommended to get the next update ASAP as there are a number of things fixed.

Yes, this will work and is safe. The only change needed to support FW3.8.0 was updating the the supported firmware version number. It won't work with an Aura H2O, but any of the other devices will be OK for a while.

There have been no reports of database breaking bugs/issues with Calibre 2.0. Besides, the more people that run Calibre 2, the more chance of things found to be fixed and thus fixed. So it could help if yu did run Calibre 2.1 so you too can help find anything that might need fixing.
