Cool A Jim Butcher tweet...

***I couldn't find any references to the name of the character being discussed!***

For the record, I LOVED Wool! I haven't started Shift yet, it's on my TBR pile.
I just finished Ernest Cline's "Ready Player One" and was blown out of the water. I have to admit (:O) that I enjoyed it even more than "Skin Game", yet I know people who hated it. Diff'rent strokes I suppose!
Just finished Shift a few hours ago. Wow, what a ride. And there I thought that the Silo saga was just 3 kind of independent books that just happen to be in the same universe. Well no. Worse, now by the end of Shift I want to keep going even more than after Wool. Change of plans again? I planned on reading all 3 as one big book. Then the not so smooth transition from Wool to Shift made me reconsider. So ended up reading something inbetween and the plan was to throw some other book(s) between Shift and Dust. *sigh* Have not decided yet what to do - jump strait into Dust or save until later.

(Spoiler comparing Wool and Dust concerning writing techniques without mentioning names, events, concepts or places of the story)
Spoiler:
While Wool switched locations at the beginning of some chapters, everything is still pretty much chronological. Shift, however, also sometimes jumps forward and back in time adding a whole new dimension of complexity.

I've read the whole series to date, and I like it as much as Dresden. I did find the third book a little slow. There is a character introduced in the latest book (#7, but I guess he is technically introduced earlier) that provides Atticus with someone to answer to. The dialogue is hilarious.

For the record, I wasn't sold by the first two Dresden books. I only kept reading because the series came so highly recommended.

I had a similar experience with The Dresden Files. I was not really impressed with the first book but kept reading. Saw improvement in the 2nd book and was totally hooked by the end of the 3rd.

If it had not been recommended by a friend, and I had not bought the first 3 books at once, I may never have gotten past the first book. So glad I did.
