Not even close. One has to wonder why don't you use a superior screen when it is right there for you. What is the resolution of the 7" Galaxy Tab 4?

Looks like the value in getting the Galaxy Nook is $200 in free content and, according to one employee, free lifetime customer service.

Pretty sure they said something similar about the earlier various Nook tablets.

Not seeing anything so far that makes me want to buy one...

- Daily personalized recommendations (please no)

- Free customer service in-store for Nook users (has he actually sampled their in-store service?)

- More than $200 of free NOOK reading and entertainment content including three free bestselling eBooks including Freakonomics, The Wanderer, and I Am Number Four (might be nice if I was interested in those titles, too bad it's not a credit to buy three books of my choice)

- and an episode each of three hit TV shows: HBO’s Veep, NBC Universal’s Hannibal, and BBC America’s Orphan Black (first episodes are often free from any video service [Vudu, iTunes, Amazon, etc.)

- A $5 credit will also help customers get started as they explore the NOOK Store (nice, I suppose)

- Add to that B&N's software (as opposed to stock Android or TouchWiz). No thanks.

The freebies might be list priced at $200 but that sure isn't $200 worth of value, even if you like what they offer.
The $5 credit is probably more valuable.

Well, it is lighter and smaller than the Nook HD.

And just as I feared, according to CNET's first impressions there is only about 5GB available to the user.

To us reading nerds it is. That said, Samsung has powerful name recognition and might help B&N move some devices.

It feels that way. If I was looking for a 7" tablet I don't think it'd be this one, it'd be a Nexus 7 which is more appealing even though it's "last years model".

More than screen resolution is at play here.

I wonder if the $200 content is on top of, or instead of, the Galaxy Rewards program. If instead, then I'm not even sure this is an actual incentive, just a different option.
