Gotcha. Makes perfect sense. I use my Nokia 520 Wi-Fi only for data, although I also use it as a phone.

You'll find a mix here. Some of us want to use these phones as media players, whiles others as phones/media players.

One thing I would like to mention concerning whispersync that I have not seen addressed, although I may well have missed it, is Omnibus editions.

I own three and have not been offered whispersync pricing on the audiobooks for any of them. I didn't expect to get a whispersync omnibus but as I have purchased the books, I did expect whispersync pricing. Nope.

Sorry, you won't get it on omnibus editions. Whispersync is strictly individual books.

Could be. None of the individual stories had corresponding WfV audiobooks.

Well...I have no wish to push you out of your comfort zone and the unlocked option does give more phone choice. But if you could find a ATT "gophone" you can live with that would be the most bang for the buck OR wait for a good sale.

FYI I use H2O wireless and pay $10 for 3 months. Calls cost:5 cent/min, texts: 5cent/each deducted from the $10.

True enough, but I have an account with both - at Audible's suggestion, even. I just looked - the whispersync Kindle titles have the same ASIN number in both Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk. Amazon has a function for transferring your Kindle from one country to another. I've been considering a trip to England for some time, so theoretically I could make the swap, get the Kindles, add the whispersyncs to my Audible.co.uk account, and switch back on my return. Problem is I don't know whether I would lose books (or possibly other digital content) or not - too chicken to try.
