Which uninstall program should I use if I want a clean installation again? My firmware version is 3.5.

Take the KoboRoot.tgz of the folder KoboRoot_3.3.1_3.4.1 of the archive KBStartMenu_04_update01a.zip, which you can find here. In the menu select "handle update" > "install_update". After the reader has rebooted into nickel, connect to the pc and delete the folder kbmenupngs and the folder kbmenu of .kobo.

I had a factory reset and reinstall everything strictly following the instructions. Clicking the N-to-K loop still leads directly to N, both exit-nickle and s-to-k leads to the menu. Clicking the K-to-N leads directly to K, exit N though leads to K correctly.

Look whether there is a crash log file in the koreader folder. There should be one. Last edited by tshering; 08-17-2014 at 06:52 PM.

Then, of course, it does not help us. Edit: I think I found the reason why it was not working for you (it was a Aura HD specific problem). Copy the content of the uploaded archive to .kobo/kbmenu/onstart. This should concern all Aura HD that use the KBStartMenu_04_update01-zip package. I wonder why nobody else reported this problem. Maybe nobody uses this option? Edit: This script does not yield the wished for effect (as reported by hombretranquilo)! Last edited by tshering; 08-19-2014 at 04:03 PM. |

Why did I expect this? Quote:
Edit: It turned out, that it does not work. Thank you to hombretranquilo for testing and reporting. Last edited by tshering; 08-19-2014 at 04:02 PM.

I was somehow expecting this. Thank you for trying. I guess only the screen rotates, but the touch coordinates remain the same, so that the reader becomes unusable. Right? So I should disable the koreader additions in the main menu for Aura HD in future.

Yes, device becomes unusable because coordinates don't rotate too. Thanks for your work again.

Since the most recent version of koreader, the script koreader.sh is more flexible than it was before. Please replace koreadere_kobo.sh in .kobo/kbmenu/onstart with the version of the uploaded archive. The effect will be that koreader is always started with the newest version of koreader.sh. You need at least have installed KBStartMenu_04.zip to use this script. Last edited by tshering; 08-22-2014 at 11:19 AM. |

Maybe this helps. The behaviour of the scripts is: nickel>koreader with 180º rotation>nickel>koreader with no rotation>nickel>koreader with 180º rotation>nickel>koreader with no rotation.....

koreader_kobo.sh.zip is not related to that problem. This is just something that allows the koreader developers to have control on what is happening in the script that launches the koreader; and I have not to care anylonger to update my script if they change something in theirs. Thank you for this information. Right now I cannot longer spend time on this, since I am rather under pressure. But if you like we can continue in 2 weeks or so. |
