It is very possible for a user the change the template to something that collides more often. We have seen cases where someone changed the template to a constant xxxxx (or something) and then wondered why s/he could only put one book on the device. It is worth noting that the change to use the template requires that the content server have access to the user's gui configuration. That is where the template is stored. If you run a content server on a different machine or with a different default config, you are probably not going to be happy if you changed the wireless device's template. The UUID option avoids these problems. Last edited by chaley; 08-16-2014 at 03:55 AM. |

Moderator Notice I wish CC had a search for duplicates on device function.Moved to CC's dedicated forum My scenario: Loaded via wireless connection large book library. Later, when not connected I went into Calibre and found some duplicates, about a hundred or so. I deleted them in Calibre. Next sync with device, CC and Calibre matched metadata to the duplicates on device. Now Calibre sees three copies of some books on device. CC has them. I wish I could search in CC and find the duplicates and delete them from the device. The duplicates had exact match of titles and authors. Last edited by chaley; 08-17-2014 at 02:31 AM. |

I detected the duplicates in Calibre and deleted them from Calibre but they exist on the device as detected by Calibre. Can I make Calibre delete the copies on the device? In Calibre I see a book and in the On Device column I see next to the green check mark in parentheses either (two books) or (three books) for the ones with duplicates. In Calibre, when I select the book, use the context menu, I see Remove Books options. The only option for removing from device removes all of the copies of a book, not just the duplicates. Options as I see them are: 1) Delete the entire library off of the device and reload it. 2) Go through each book on the device and manually identify duplicates and delete them. 3) Since my library is on the SD card on the device, I can place the SD card on the PC SD Card Reader and use a PC duplicate finder to find them and delete them. Do you have an opinion on which of these would be easiest to accomplish? Thank you for all of your work. ![]() Last edited by gsparks2; 08-17-2014 at 09:41 AM. |

Option 4: Connect device wirelessly. Select in Calibre those books with duplicates on device. Remove individual duplicates of books from device. I withdraw my wish! Last edited by gsparks2; 08-17-2014 at 09:58 AM. Reason: corrected sequence of steps |

I was just glancing through the CC reviews on Google play and someone has requested the ability to group by language.

Yea, I saw that. It is easy to do. However, the person is explicitly holding a star hostage to us adding the feature. That offends me (I know this is petty, but I can't help it), so it won't be in the next release.

I can understand how you feel, but perhaps she isn't holding the star hostage so much as saying that without the feature it's only a 4 star app for her.
I recently found a game I like that keeps doing a loud beep every few moves. I love the game, but have to play with the volume turned down because the beeping is so annoying. This keeps me from listening to a. Book or music while I play. I left a similar 4 star review saying that I liked the games, but this issue kept me from rating it higher. I wasn't holding the star hostage, so much as saying without the feature I didn't like the app as much. Now, having said that, anyone who doesn't give calibre companion 5 stars is an idiot, so I say, make her suffer. ![]() |

I've just read the CC and the cloud discussion. I have a wish list item that I suspect at least of few of us would value highly. I travel frequently, which is what got me to my original Kindle and thence to Calibre. (Too many physical books to carry traveling initially, and then the news capability of Calibre!)
When at home, it's easy to run Calibre daily, then sync via CC to my Nexus 7 (replaces my Kindle.) When traveling...? Not so much... I can leave my laptop running at home, or ask my wife to start it daily. I can set up a windows task to run Calibre. What I can't do is sync my tablet using CC remotely. Unfortunately, IT policies prevent me from installing Calibre on my work laptop, etc. So, a remote CC sync capability would be fantastic! |

edit: I haven't read the entire thread... can you point me to the relevant post? edit 2: I see now. Did not realize Calibre Cloud is an existing app. I read "CC" as Calibre Companion... Last edited by NSILMike; 08-20-2014 at 01:33 PM. |

The first post from NSILMike talks about "remote sync". I interpreted that as being a desire to connect as a wireless device to an instance of calibre running remotely. The remaining two posts move away from this notion of connecting remotely toward downloading from the cloud, which is a very different thing. @NSILMike: what is your goal? Do you want to get access to the books in your calibre library from somewhere other than your home network? Or to connect as a wireless device to sync metadata and ...? Or to do something else? BTW: in all my posts I use CC to mean Calibre Companion. I never use it to mean Calibre Cloud. |
