Probably for the best that they do considering how much junk is out there just waiting to mess up an innocent computer. I had a virus once (on a previous computer) that allowed someone across the world to try getting into my bank account. I ended up having to change accounts, bank cards, checks, etc. just to protect myself.

The new tools don't seem to want to install. Guess I'm stuck with the old one for a while.

Have you tried uninstalling the old ones first?

Regardless if it is necessary or not, I always remove old plugins first.

You are not making the same mistake I did I hope?

I still had the old version of the tools in the same directory I just downloaded 6.0.9 into, it took me three attempts before I realised why Calibre was still listing the plug-in as version 6.0.8 and not the updated version....

Has anyone tried the newest version of the Tools with Mavericks? I'm setting up a new iMac and am debating whether to download 6.0.9 or 6.0.8.

Ah ok. Maybe that's what I'm doing wrong. I get an error and a message that a python file is missing.

Note that you only need to bother updating if you're using or planning to use the plugin with the new calibre based on QT5.

Well I do update my Calibre from time to time. Right now I'm using version 1.48. I don't know if that needs the new tools or not to be honest.

Not at this moment. You will only need the new tools when the first digit changes to 2 (or something like that).
