Yes, that's a reasonable statement, but an eInk device is NOT the best choice for PDF. We're not just making this stuff up, you know - people in this forum have years of experience, and are trying to give you the benefit of the mistakes we've made, so you don't have to make them, too.

The best for PDF is an iPad Air with the Goodreader app.

I'd have to disagree with much of what's been said regarding the quality of reading PDFs on an eink reader. I've been doing it for years and prefer that to reading on a tablet of any size. All of the Pocketbook readers are good at reading PDfs and can read chm files. The Pro 912 in particular is good for that. I have one but have stopped using it because it was not portable enough, not because it didn't work well. The Galaxy Note 8 and Nook HD+ weren't as portable as I prefer. Now I read PDFs on a Kobo Aura HD running Koreader. Most of the PDFs I read are programming books and don't have diagrams, etc. Just sample code. If I had a lot of diagrams and illustrations I would read on the PB Pro 012. Just my $0.02. |

I'd say the Aura HD with koreader is an acceptable PDF reader in most cases. In the case of medical textbooks, I'm not sure that will be the case. I didn't like the Android option as there was too much ghosting in all of the apps. Scrolling was problematic also.

Who sells textbooks in CHM format, as a matter of interest?

I assume those CHMs are pretty big. Did the conversions fail by running out of memory? If so, using 64-bit Calibre on a box with a lot of RAM might work.
