Aura HD Distorted pdf
Hi There Forum!
I just received my Kobo Aura HD. One of the primary reasons I purchased it over other models was its larger and higher res screen for pdf's. Unfortunately, It seems to cut off the pdf even on minimal zoom. Basically it looks like the top left side is moderately zoomed even when the zoom slider is all the way to the left. The stretch to page height button doesn't work, the stretch to page width doesn't do anything unless I'm zoomed and then it just puts me back where I started. Finally, I've noticed that when I open the pdf it now seems to appear as a postage stamp size of itself, as soon as I try to modify the size in any way it changes to the cut off version above. I upgraded from a kindle 3 and that device has no problems displaying the full page like it should, it is just a little too small to read comfortably. Any Ideas? Thank You EDIT: Its actually like theres a 3/4 inch margin on the left side that pushes 3/4 inch of text off the right side. Last edited by FaiT; 08-10-2014 at 10:58 AM. |

Kobo Development Corner link on mobileread forums has threads on installing alternate readers onto Kobo Aura HD. Members who have done this will elaborate with their experience.

Ummm. so I followed the guide and KOReader works well at displaying pdf's but how do I exit a book in Koreader? I've tried long-pressing everywhere and I just don't see a way to do it.

You can also try to poke the screen as if the menu were where it should be, then it should be right side up when you return from that selection. This was an issue a while back but should not be one now. You could try reinstalling the Kobo Start Menu, there is a reinstall folder with a KoboRoot.tgz file to put in .kobo and reinstall the Start Menu. Luck; Ken |

I will likely try again in the future but for now I
- Factory Reset - Installed Koreader with Files Monitor Now I can read my pdf's. Thanks Kobo /sarcasm. But really I thank the community for putting all this together. When I get more restless/adventurous I'll try the start menu again. What are the main advantages of the start menu? Im just curious what it provides over the stock software. |

Well, I went ahead and updated to 3.5 and then tried start menu again. The first time I booted nickel it did the same thing as before [start menu->nickel->Books and without displaying ANY entries it went to an upside down start menu. I rebooted and it seems to work normally. Now I see that there is an exit nickel button listed in the books entries. I previously didn't know this because it went straight to an upside down start menu. But it seems to work fine now.
Once again, Thanks for the help! ![]() |
