In all the recent Koreader updates where I just copy over the koreader folder, there is an attempt to copy over a History folder, that isn't found in the temporary folder WinRAR uses. I just skip that and everything seems fine. But I wonder if there is some purpose beyond just creating the folder for a new install? Skipping that attempt is no problem.

@Ken Maltby: As the name implies, it's a runtime created folder storing history & a copy of file-specific setting, IIRC. It's not shipped in the zip/tarballs. Perfectly normal.
As a sidenote, the last couple of nightlies now have an OTA update feature ![]() |

Thanks, I was just wondering. I haven't tried the Over The Air (OTA) update yet. I noticed that its one setting seems to be "nightly" and that, that is not uncheckable. I guess I'll have to find that WiFi on and off code again, I kinda remember it working within tshering's Kobo Start Menu. There must have been an issue with it though, because I haven't seen it lately.

@Ken Maltby: Because no stable release has been tagged yet since the (very recent) introduction of the feature, hence nightly being the only update channel available right now
![]() I might be mistaken, but the WiFi toggle thing *might* be handled properly from KOReader itself. At the very least it should properly detect if WiFi's off and (possibly) tell you what to do. |

It just tells me "OTA server is not available".
And I have no idea how to turn Wifi on (without using Nickel), is there anything like that available? Btw, what are Evernote and ZSync doing? |

His has it defaulting to respond to DHCP. Cgm999's is set without that support enabled. The post. Luck; Ken Wow, this is odd, with tshering's WiFi running I tried the OTA update and it offered to update my AuraHD to the 459 version. What is interesting is that the Github pulse site has the 455 version as the current version. (That is the version I am running.) Last edited by Ken Maltby; 08-07-2014 at 04:44 PM. |

Thanks, Ken.
Works, but not sure about the update. It offers me too the 459, but is it actually doing something? Btw, the next nightly (maybe it is 459?) will have my metadata search functionality... |

Tried and it said that it would take a few minutes. Then there was no further messages, no progress bar or anything. I waited 15 minutes and checked the version and it hadn't changed. I tried the "check update" again and the server was "unavailable". Since that is what you get before the WiFi is turned on, I tried restarting it, in case it had timed out, and I still got the server unavailable message. So? chrox's buildbot runs roughly every 12H, so you will indeed often see newer builds on the OTA repo than the latest tagged nightly release on GH

Using Tshering's wifi scripts, koreader asks me if I want to download an OTA update (461?) but after that, if I press OK it says that "Download may take a few minutes", the warning window disappears and the reader stops using the router (wifi led stops blinking)
I can repeat this many times but nothing new happens even if I wait for a long time ... |

Another point: After calling wifi_start.sh from KSM, did you check whether a connection is actually established? You can ping from kbterminal, or you can wget a web page and redirect the out put to stdout (wget -qO- URL, if I remember correctly). The web page will be displayed in kbterminal. Edit: I overlooked that you mentioned the leds on your router. Last edited by tshering; 08-08-2014 at 03:46 AM. |

Reading again some of the post above, I understand that koreader is successfully using the internet connection, because it can offer the version number. The problem seems to be the actual download of the tar.gz file. Can you check whether the correct url is used for downloading? I am a little surprised that in the ota zsync file there is both a file name xxx.tar, and a file name of the url xxx.tar.gz. But this might be unrelated to the problem.
