BBC Radio Plays -- updated 20 Aug 2014

BBC Radio is a great source for those interested in dramatized productions of literature; especially the classics. They can be found on Radio 3, Radio 4 and Radio 4 Extra.

Below, you'll find productions that are currently available beginning with episode one. Episodes vary in length, but generally run an hour; with some running only 15 minutes. I've listed the number of episodes for each production, followed by the earliest expiration date; which isn't always episode one. Sometimes it's a later episode, requiring you to play catch up fast.

BBC Radio Series

• Afternoon Drama -- radio dramas which delight and surprise

Has anyone here tried the new Sansa Clip Sport? One of my Clip Zips just flat-out died with no warning whatsoever, so I need a replacement. The longer battery life is on the Clip Sport is appealing, but the reviews at Amazon aren't great. I'd be using this exclusively for audiobooks.

The biggest drawback to the Sport is that it does not support WMA audiobooks from the library. MP3 audiobooks only account for around 67-75% of a library's collection. I know OverDrive plans to eliminate WMA, but so far they haven't. I suspect publishers are balking at the switch to MP3.

Thanks. I don't care about the lack of support for wma, since I still have other Clip Zips I could use for wma files. Plus my library is switching to Axis 360/Acoustik, which I can't use--I'm basically not going to be able to borrow anymore. So I'm just concerned with ease of use, whether the battery life is really as advertised, any other audiobook issues, etc.

If it were me, I'd avoid the Sport and go with a Clip+ or Zip. I know nothing about its real world usage, so I'd listen to those Amazon reviews. Besides WMA (DRM), SanDisk also removed the stopwatch and voice recorder. Nothing like going backwards with a so-called upgrade.

Thanks. Amazingly enough, I was able to bring my Clip Zip back from the dead, so the decision on a Clip Sport is moot for now.

I found info on the SanDisk pages about resetting the Clip Zip--hold power button for 20 seconds, release, then hit power button again--and that resurrected the darn thing. Who knew?
