My Kindle Content

I just noticed that many of the books I have purchased through Amazon are not on my computer in the My Kindle content file. When I open the Kindle app I find some books in "All Items" but when I load the book I can not find it in the My Kindle Content file. Other books I have on my Kindle that I bought from Amazon simply do not appear in "All Items" .

How do I get all the books to the My Kindle Content file on my computer without changing anything on my Kindle?

So books that you have downloaded through the Kindle app on your computer aren't showing in the My Kindle Content folder? Are you using Windows 8?

I am using Windows 7. I just want to know how the My Kindle Content works. Do I have to specifically download to the Kindle app from Amazon to make the books appear there? Will the books stay in my Kindle and be in the Kindle for my PC at the same time?

Or rather, are you using the Windows 8 Kindle app for Windows 8 (which stores books as app storage in some weird fragmented format in some weird location I cannot remember) rather than Kindle for PC for Windows XP thru 8 (which stores books as mobipocket books -- .azw -- in My Kindle Content)?

Ignore my previous post, I didn't see your later post.

You must download books through the Kindle for PC program before they will show up in My Kindle Content. And it is all completely independent of any other Kindle device or app.

When you purchase a book using your web browser, you must select which device or app you want Amazon to send the book to. When you purchase through the Kindle itself, the book automatically is delivered to that device.

All other devices must explicitly download the book from the "cloud" storage at Amazon.

Or, you can navigate to the "Manage my devices and content" on the Amazon web site (under "My Account") and select the "send to ..." action to send the book to a given device.

I know of no way that any Kindle or app will automatically download all books from the Kindle cloud storage.

Ok, you guys are really helping. Thank you. Now I just need to know how to get the books from the Kindle for PC into the My Kindle Content folder on my computer. It seems I have to open the book first in my Kindle app to make it go there. Is there some faster way?

We have already explained it to you. The "My Kindle Content" folder contains the books that K4PC has downloaded.

But just downloading to the K4PC from Amazon does not seem to get them into the "My Kindle Content" folder. It seems I have to open them in the Kindle app to make them go to that folder. No?

I have over 800 boks, and opening each one could get dificult. Thank you for your patient help.

Download and install Kindle 4 PC.

Open K4PC and login to your Amazon account.

Select each book you want to download individually.

Once book is downloaded it will reside in the My Kindle Content folder.

There is no way to do a bulk download.

The books in "Archived Items" are in the cloud. To get them to your computer, you can either double-click them, or right-click and choose "Download". You have to do this for each book; no bulk download, like AnemicOak said.
