preformat
Hi,
I don't know why, but recently my problems reading the NYTimes downloaded by calibre became huge, making it impossible to read it. As I wrote elsewhere, I sometimes had this problem: opening the feed the Reader went in "rotating double arrow" (RTA) mode, and then reset. But I could survive: after resetting, reopening it again it went in RTA mode, after which it was able to display the feed. Not anymore: the last 3 days editions give the RTA reset, every time. I saw that this problem is more a Reader's than Calibre's problem (e.g. https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...rotating+arrow ), but I was wondering: can it be possible for Calibre to implement the preformat capacity of Sony Library? That would be a major step forward ... alessandro |

In order to do this, I'd have to reverse engineer the sony reader's LRF rendering routines *exactly*, waaaay too much work. Just switch to epub format or use the connect doftware to transfer the files. Now that the files are stored in folders on your disk, using the connect software isn't that hard.

'xcept that I use Linux, and I have the connect software on another (windows) machine - oh well...
Thinking about it, I could try Sony connect under Wine. alessandro |

Alternatively, we could all call Sony support and report the lack of a cross-platform preformat app as a bug! It really would not be difficult for them to provide a headless app that just did the pre-formatting (possibly only for non-DRM books) on a reasonable selection of Unix-ish hosts (Mac OS X and a couple of popular Linux-es).
Perhaps a wave of customer bug reports might motivate them. Or maybe not. Xenophon |

Unfortunately, this is really only neccessary for the small fragment of their user base that uses Unix and a PRS 500, so I doubt it
