My real issue with switching from the iPhone is that I have my entire music collection in iTunes, and my iPhone is my music player. I'd need something equivalent for Android. I'll start a new thread in the Android forum to ask how I'd go about doing that.

Most people install a third party email reader which you can configure how they work. I use K9.

Most of the apps I want are available on Ipad and not on android. I like board games and the games that I like tend to start on IOS and some migrate to Android but not many. You are talking about games there sell for $5 to $25 and those do not sell as well on Android. I cannot look them up at work but it is a common complaint mentioned on board Game Geeks, so much so that there is an IOS games section and they specifically highlight when a game is being made for both Android and IOS or when a game has migrated. But they almost all start on IOS. Heck, kickstarters for these games list Android apps as a stretch goal. I have an IPad 3 and might upgrade sometime in the near future. Probably as LM gets closer to an age that I am comfortable with letting him use an IPad on a semi regular basis. Maybe a year from now. |

I find a lot of youtube downloaders for Android. Does Downloads HD does something else? Since I never play games I always forget that there is a difference there.

Feedler wasn't on Android when I had my tablet so I can't say, I was forced to use Feedly or Digg, neither of which I liked.

Downloads HD allows me to save videos from a friends' server and play them within the app and export them to my pc. Plus it can save web pages and export them to my pc as well. I don't use this app for You Tube. Strategery is hubby's main game, it's never been developed for Android.

At the end of the day ios works seemlessly for me. I have the same apps on my iPhone, my air and my mini. It's not worth my time to try to save money now by starting again with Android unless it's for my phone which is used far less than the iPads. I'd have to work out what's apps I need to replace the ios only ones. I write reviews in Pages which easily export to dropbox and to my pc in word. From my experience with Android I needed three steps with Android for every one on iOS, it was messy and uncoordinated. And I hated the file system. Yes I'd get an android phone as all I'd want that for that apart from phone and texts is music and audiobooks, plus Facebook, but for a tablet which I use as a laptop replacement during the week I wouldn't use anything but an ipad. It's worth every penny. |

Well, if you can download it in Chrome it will end up in Downloads and all these files you can easily email (just share them with an email app).
