I see no need for this program. Calibre handles things just fine. I know how to deal with a converted document the way I want. So really, it's not getting installed here.

But a link was provided to the tool. How is that different from posting a link to Alf?

Mobileread does not allow links to a tool that exists solely for the purpose of defeating DRM. The program in question is a converter program. What one chooses to do with that program (given its limitations when compared to calibre) is up to the person who decides to download that program.

Good point! It's just like some of the self-published ebooks that I see--horrible grammar, frequently misspelled words, you name it. The authors may not be able to use good English, but unless they just totally are broke financially, they can have someone proofread what they've written and make the necessary corrections.

What really gets me is how someone can have so many misspelled words--nearly everything that you can enter text on nowadays has a spellchecker, including this box here that I'm writing in now! Do these authors ignore the flags for misspelled words? Do they turn the spellchecker off? Are they too lazy to look up the correct spelling for the words flagged by the spellchecker? What?

Actually, the box you type in on MR has no spellchecker. That's built into your web browser.

And the best spellchecker out there won't altogether compensate for the poster if they are posting in their 2nd language. I mean if say their native language is German for example and they aren't as familiar with English then they may make some mistakes. I see it all the time with Fan Fics. People who live in European countries and who know some English as they are able to post stories in the language often still make mistakes in their text.

One commenter (post #32) at GotD actually suggested that there is calibre-generated output in Ultimate Converter's results. That sounds like this is not only a program that does exactly what calibre does, but for a charge, but it is an infringement of calibre's codebase -- and an old version.

Something to look into?

(I always suspect these chinese ebook programs of infringing calibre -- they are already selling Alf's work, so why wouldn't they do this too?)
