Author Sort Field in Edit Meta Information Window

Hi Kovid,

I've been populating this field with Lastname, Firstname. The popup tip says its to be used when sorting but if I click the top of the authors column it sorts based on Firstname, Lastname. Also is there any way we can get this field available in calibredb list or should I just rename all of my authors fields to Lastname, First and use that?

That's a bug, the next release will sort on the contents of the author sort field. I'll add it to calibredb in the next release

Sorting is now working as expected in both the gui and sorted calibredb list output.

I was wondering if there is a setting for the author sort field. Unlike the original poster, I sort my books first name, last name. It's probably not correct, but it's the way I started and I'm used to it. Is there a way to have the author sort field duplicate what's in the author field. I like them both first, then last.
