Thank you - I have put cotton wool in and put my dressing gown hood up, so my ears are warm and draft free, which is soothing them

i hope that makes a difference. i've just realized i don't seem to suffer from earache, so other than the instinct of keeping it warm i wouldn't have the first idea how to treat it. ah, the joys of winter... if this keeps up the population of the forum (the lounge, at least) is going to be decimated !

I get earache if I get a cold, if I get a cold draft in my ears, if I cry lying down... I have no idea why, and the last time I went to the docs about it (um, over 20 years ago now

) they syringed my ears out. So I'm not going back about it!

So long as there's a nice log fire in the lounge, plenty of honey, lemon and ginger drinks (and/or Zany Carters), we can just all curl up in comfy chairs and go into semi-hibernation here!

and lemon, ginger and honey (and/or zany carters...) will cure ANYTHING (i firmly believe). also a log fire certainly can't help (you've no idea how i envy you that).

Unfortunately, we don't have any fire in the house, although we do have a brazier in the back garden for burning small logs in.

The few times I've had it done...I enjoyed it. That's not weird, is it? I don't want to give people the wrong impression about me. If they thought I was some kind of weirdo, I'd probably have to go console myself by huffing the fumes from burning home theatre equipment again.

It would have been an interesting visual if instead of "brazier" you said "brassiere". Burning your bra in the backyard while toasting marshmallows over it - sort-of "comfort-feminism".
