New T68 doesn't turn on?

I had a problem with random reboot loops with my T68, so I sent it back to Artatech via Amazon, where I had bought it from. I had a refund, and then ordered a new one from Artatech. It arrived today.

When my first one came, as soon as I connected it to a power source, it turned on. This one does not. The light on that button below the screen comes on when the device is connected to a power source, but the device doesn't turn on. I am hoping that the device just needs charging, but I am very concerned that I have an expensive brick on my hands. I can send it back to Artatech, of course, if need be.

Has anyone else run into this when you first got the T68?

Edit: Well, all of a sudden, my T68 came to life and started working. I'm downloading the OTA update now. I'll see if my luck continues to improve.

Well, after it not working at all, now my T68 works, but only when plugged in to a power source. If it's unplugged, it will not turn on. If I unplug it when it is on, it immediately shuts down. But, when plugged in, it seems to work fine. I know that others have run into a similar issue.

This is really funny. On my first T68, Google Play Books crashed constantly, so I gave up on it. On this one, it works flawlessly in both Original Pages mode and in Flowing Text mode. Everything else I've tried looks good so far. So, it looks like the question is: am I willing to live with a device that needs to be plugged in to work (what a concept!) but which will run all the apps I want it to run? Interesting dilemma.

I would return it for another one, that's an annoying situation. Amazon is restocking on the 29th.

I emailed Artatech customer service yesterday. They haven't responded yet, but I have found that they are usually pretty good at replying within a couple of days.

The vendor in Amazon is Artatech : you buy the same type of device if you choose Amazon or Artatech. The other choice is : http://ereader-store.eu.

I ordered my first T68 through Amazon, and returned it through Amazon. Since Amazon was out of them, I ordered my second one direct from Artatech.

I tried ordering one from ereader-store.eu (Booxstor). When it was time to pay, my credit card kept returning errors. I tried another one. Same thing. Ordered from Artatech. No credit card errors. I can't explain that one.

Hopefully your new one will work all the way correct this time. You have in mind the Apps you'll be using by the way? Since, I can recommend some to you, as it took me some time before I had everything set to my liking, that made things easier for me now in being pretty happy with the device, besides when it glitches up with the software.

Well this is the world first officially supported Android reader, it's bound to have lots of bugs to be stamped out.

Wait for another two or three generations, things will be better.

Artatech will try to repair my current device first. It's on its way to them in Poland. If they can't fix it, they'll send a new one or refund my money.

There are some apps I'll be definitely using on the T68. I've picked up some good ideas about others from comments I've found on this forum. All I need is a device that works properly, and I'll be fine.

Hmm, I played with my newly arrived T68 for a little bit and at some point the screen got garbled and I cannot do anything w/ it.
It doesn't want to turn off or reboot, it's just frozen like that.
It doesn't matter if it on power or not, if I try to reset with the pinhole, ....

Any ideas ?

Thanks

What specifically did you do to it to cause the problem? These things don't just happen on their own.

Actually it seems they do happen on their own w/ this reader

What it seems to have been is the power below 50% issue.
Once I saw there is nothing I can do to work I just left it charging, and after a couple of hours, it slowly came back to life !
I will test some more w/ it but it seems (based on the other complaints as well) the level of the battery matters somehow to the well functioning of the reader. Buggy behaviour of course.

The same thing happened to mine. I thought the battery was run down because of wifi, but it just ended up being frozen. You're lucky you've got a good one.
