When I signed up for the daily emails, the last page had a link "return to koboreview." I went there; what the site is is an archive of free ebooks from previous daily mails. I went back about three weeks' time to see what had been offered each day. I noticed that most of the ebooks in my favorite category, non-fiction, were still free! I picked up a good number of free ebooks that way. You might want to check it out for yourselves. One caveat: the great majority of the books in the non-fiction category, at least, were Smashwords imprints. All of the other ones were self-published, from indie publishers, and such like, except for one (a William Morrow imprint).`Don't let that keep you from signing up for the daily emails! There were a lot of high-quality ebooks. It seems that the outfit that sends out the daily emails has gone to the great effort to "pick through" the available free ebooks to find the "cream of the crop." I never posted this because I assumed everyone knew about it. Kobo has a program for listing books in a series where the first book is free: http://store.kobobooks.com/Collectio...r-a-new-series There's some good stuff in here. I blogged about it a while back. Just FYI--these books are not necessarily permanently free. Some are, some aren't. |

Here are some 55% codes. I'm using my 65% and 75% ones myself, apologies, but these are still pretty good so hopefully someone can use. Also a bunch of 45% ones which are still better than PERKOPOLIS, and still can help on cheap books. On a (sort of) related subject, does anyone know of a combo of Kobo country/checkout/browser where the Asterix books (either English or French) are both discountable AND multi-tabbable? I can find, for example, the English ones to be discountable in Afghanistan, but I get the old checkout, which doesn't multi-tab in any browser (IE, FF, C or O) for me. I've checked an awful lot of country/checkout/browser combos, but can't find one which works. And the Asterix books are ridiculously expensive, especially for backlist titles which I already own in paper in both languages. So I really want to use high value codes, but hate to use up one high value code per book. Aaaaah, wish I had thought of getting the whole series back in the 90% unlimited coupon days... 55% Spoiler:

The problem would seem to be cases where the book is available under one UPC in one country and a different one in another; that poses more of a "can't get there from here" situation, but there are usually ways to get inventive with such restrictions. At least, that's what I've heard. I'd certainly not be the type to experiment with such things myself... | |
