Smile Other places to purchase/download ebooks!

For those of you wondering where to purchase/download ebooks without using the Kobo ebsite, I think I've solved your problem! Try Feedbooks.com, manybooks.net, gutenberg.net, just to name a few! They all have free ebooks, but manybooks.net and gutenberg.net all their books are free and Feedbooks.com has books in the public domain that are free as well.

Don't even know how to find the MobeRead Library. I guess I need to do some research.

Feedbooks has most of Lucy Maud Montgomery's books, nicely formatted (ePub, mobi and PDF), in their public domain section. (If you just click on Download you'll get ePub, but if you click on the title you'll get to choose between the three formats.)

On the omnipresent MR toolbar, in between "User CP" and "New Posts".

Or on the Forums list.

I actually got the LM one from Mobile Reference, not the MR library as previously mentioned. Sorry for the mix-up.

Looks like MobileReference is a pretty good source. Thanks. Apparently they severed their relationship with Amazon at some point.

They're still publishing .mobi books -- just not selling them on Amazon.

Many people, who enjoy a large number of works by one author in one large file, also prefer Delphi Classics.

In my opinion, they do a better job with TOCs, etc, than Mobile Reference - but each to his own, of course.

You might also try your local library. Many of them loan out ebooks directly to your ereader. I know the PRS-T1 can do it (though I haven't tried it myself yet).

Seems a little complicated, but if you want to avoid Kobo and paying for a book, that is a classic and underutilized resource.

Many US libraries use overdrive.com to supply their loaner books. I just discovered that I can purchase books from them which they stock, but which my library hasn't elected to carry.

I'd been looking for a couple of books in ePub for several weeks and found one for loan and one for purchase via my library/Overdrive.

The purchase site is librarybin.com, but I suggest you get there via your library's website, so they get credit for the referral.

I googled "epubs" to see what stores came up and found http://www.booksamillion.com/ - a store I had basically forgotten about since their brick-and-mortar store in my area closed a few years ago. I compared prices of several books on Books A Million and Kobo and BAM's prices were lower, so I bought a couple. I am in the US - I don't know if they sell to any other countries.

Note re: purchase experience - when I first finished checking out and went to Downloads to download my purchases, it said "order in process", but after I clicked out of that page and then went back to it my books were available for download.
