It's been reported and not fixed. Hopefully they will give you a refund because for some odd reason the author is unable to fix it. NO idea what is going on there. Maybe the person who originally rec'd and told me about the problem can chime in with an update...? Because it was a mobileread person...
I don't know if they were able to get a refund. I know the Kindle versions are reported to be okay.
That's them. As you note, book 2 downloads as book 3. Book 3 looks okay.

Not only have they not blocked it from being purchased, their "support" folks have apparently not been advised that there's a problem. I had to tell them to check the file several times before they actually did.

It doesn't appear to be self-pubbed -- the publisher is listed as Accent Press -- but Kobo says they've notified the author.

They've offered a refund or store credit. The coupon was cheap enough that I won't bother about it too much.

And, just to stay on topic, my new codes aren't worth bothering much about either.

Reminds me of what happened with a few Tom Holt books. Orbit screwed up the metadata on about five of his books big time when they mass-epublished his backlist, resulting in all kinds of happy fireworks. As I recall, two of 'em had the same metadata as each other and four more shared a different set of metadata...at any rate, there were five Bad Books across the backlist. The main problem was that this affected the catalog, so four of the books were missing from retailers because of the duplicated information and the fifth showed up as something else.

I got refunds at two different retailers before the problem was resolved at Orbit's level, and it'd probably still be screwed up if I hadn't opened the ebooks to look at the raw OPF files (thankfully in the clear, despite the DRM) to find out what was wrong and pass that up the chain.

Thanks to this absurdly generous contest (I amassed thirty-two 75% codes) I've obliterated my Kobo wishlist down to 2 books which aren't eligible for codes. I'll post the 65% codes here but I'll PM any member one of two 75% codes I have left. First come, first served.

I'll take one of those off your hand if you wouldn't mind? I've only managed 2 45% codes out of this contest so far and hundreds of 10 & 20% codes... It's been frustrating.

Yeah, I'm never fast enough and contest doesn't love me enough to give me a 75% code... but I keep trying.

I know the feeling; I've been using the more generous codes to pick up backlist books, and I'm down to one nine-book set in my current packet. (I've got thousands of books I want to convert, but one must be reasonable...) I feel pretty confident, and if I don't get a 75% code this time, there's always next month.

There-in lies the problem. It can take WEEKS to get the info across to someone who has a clue. Same thing happened to me with overdrive and my books. WEEKS before someone said, "Hey can you send a screen shot because we don't know how you're seeing what you're seeing."

In the case of Accent publishing, they may have been told but have no idea what is going on, haven't looked or it's the author and she doesn't know how to fix it (many authors hire someone to do the uploading).

No way to know, but it's a royal pill.

I bought a textbook recently that was completely wrong. As far as I know they haven't fixed it, even after I told them to, for the next purchaser. They just gave me a refund, and I bought the right book from Amazon, since they couldn't seem to offer it to me even though they say they sell it.

Thank you so much for that code, just managed to get 31 Alan Dean foster books to complete my collection for £30.

Really gotta love the multi tab method.

Now to go look for some new stuff to use the 2 65% codes angela67 graciously sent me as well...

/me goes to look through the reading recommendation forums for some new sci-fi as I'm getting a bit bored of magic and fancy some space battles.

Again thanks to everybody for all of the codes they've posted in this wonderful thread and if my luck changes tomorrow and I get some high ones I'll recriprocate and post them in here as I have enough to be going on with till the next competition now
