Another band of impressively loud thunderstorms rolled through a while ago. All of the windows in the house are fogged over.

Well - that was exciting - I looked out the window at work and saw a solid mass of black cloud with embedded lightning heading straight toward us - so I jumped in the car and tore off for home - luckily most of my trip was parallel to the storm front - and I got home just as the torrential rain began to fall - to experience almost an hour of severe/dangerous storms with near continuous cloud to ground lightning ....
All survived in the roost - although I don't expect to see Goldie cat for several hours, and Stella cat is clinging to me. Sammie cat? She slept through it ...

I had nearly the same experience down here yesterday. The 5pm storms were short and hard, with the more sustained ones rolling in overnight. A good solid hour of flash and thunder between 11 and 12 last night.

Mine seem to have become a good one. The surgeon told me he may have to perform another operation to insert a "straw" to allow my sinuses to drain. In the meantime he has me doing daily flushes that consist of squeezing a bottle of sterilized saline water into one nostril until it comes out the other. Man, that's fun.

I see your injured sinuses and raise you two surgically reconstructed knees. Nothing tells the weather like good, old fashioned, arthritis. (No, I am not actually trying to participate in out-suffering).

I do hope you feel better! Nothing is worse than constant sinus pressure - not even rebuilt knees.

Aw, bad knees are the pits. Mine limit me from doing certain things, but they're not nearly so bad as other folks I know. At least mine have yet to require surgery, and I can usually still walk a flight of stairs with little trouble. Take care of yours!

Today was another warm day of around 26C. Predictions are that we're getting a heatwave until Monday (temperatures over 25C), with Saturday temperatures over 30 degrees.

I've been doing that for 20 years. I started it out with three rounds of sinus surgery, and it has really helped, but it's not the highlight of my day!

I have no suggestions on how to make it more fun.


And, as far as knees go, I had Lyme disease five years before they knew what it was, so no antibiotics. They're pretty good at keeping me posted on barometric changes.

Absolutely gorgeous this morning - cool (low 70's F) with NO humidity! I was able to open the deck door and let the cats sniff & listen to the birds!

Nice day up here, too. Temps in the low 80s, low humidity, gentle breeze ... and I mowed the lawn yesterday, so I can relax (a bit).

Drove to work this morning in a veritable monsoon - rain fell so heavily visibility was reduced to less than zero (I couldn't see the end of my own car hood) and the road flooded (@astrangerhere - I was on NC 54 - remember? no drainage) - we were driving through 6" of standing water with idiots passing a full speed sending tsunamis over other cars - not to mention hydroplaning .....

Got to work safely - muscles finally starting to un-clench ...

54 was the WORST in some places. Especially at the 40 junction and the other way down towards the Durham Freeway!

We had the monsoons here mid morning. It is always slightly bizarre to have storms in the midst of a skyline full of skyscrapers. The lightning just looks out of place. We're due more rain today but it hasn't started yet.
