* Kitty Norville by Carrie Vaughn * Kate Daniels by Ilona Andrews (the 1st book isn't the best but the series gets exponentially better) * White Trash Zombie by Diana Rowland * WVMP Radio by Jeri Smith-Ready * Mercy Thompson by Patricia Briggs * Alex Craft by Kalayna Price * InCryptid by Seanan McGuire * Arcadia Bell by Jenn Bennett * Women of the Otherworld by Kelley Armstrong Don't know if you've tried any of these. They all have amazing heroines and aren't overwhelmingly dark. I especially recommend the White Trash Zombie books. They're way better than the funny titles would suggest. |

I agree Blossom, Fever is one of a kind. I was flapping in the wind too for a while after reading that.
I second the recommendations for the Ilona Andrews Kate Daniels series. Not the type of heroine, she is pretty much kick ass from the beginning, but it has this vivid absorbing type of world building in it. I got lost in that one too. I am still reading the series and I am pacing myself to not run out yet. Some of the books my jaw dropped and I couldn't even write a coherent review. I always said the brain of Karen Marie Moning must be scary inside after reading Fever, but I then thought the same of Ilona Andrews. Holy moly. The other series I would mention is Chloe Neil Chicago Vampires. The heroine has the from regular book worm girl to kick ass basically as she wasn't a willing participant in her turning. I remember reading that series like candy for the first few books, I could not stop reading. It also has some of the humor I like in my UF. Especially the first books and the friendship between the Merit and Mallory is really nice to see in a UF. Often the heroines don't have other girlfriends or other friends. I really fell in love with all of the characters in this one. Last edited by Atunah; 07-14-2014 at 10:15 AM. |

and Kelley Armstrong's Women of the Otherworld ( I have 3 books left to read ). Love them both. Both of these series have romantic elements running throughout. I just bought Written in Red (The Others #1) by Anne Bishop a few days ago. It's got extremely high reviews so I'm anxious to start it. |

I've read this series, I gave it a 4 rating.
Please double check, this is supposed to be free but geo-restricted at time of post: Arouse by Nina Lane. it does show free at Kobo. blurb:He is Professor Dean West, a sexy, brilliant scholar of medieval history and the love of my life. He is my white knight, my lover, my best friend, the keeper of my dark secrets. He taught me the meaning of both love and erotic pleasure. He has slayed monsters for me and alongside me. He knows he has all of me. And then...I discover that I don't have all of him. Last edited by Blue2u; 07-14-2014 at 12:56 PM. |

Back in April someone mentioned Heart in Motion by Edie Ramer as being free.
Read the book last night and I am divided on my rating. Love part of the story and hated the other part lol may try and write a review and maybe I will figure out my rating after. Also read last night Lady's Man by Tanya Anne Crosby short and sweet, almost to short for me. Think it would be a full 5 stars if author expanded the whole story did not buy any books only downloaded some free stuff and borrowed a few from my library now to read library books. ![]() |

I found the book by browsing in my Kindle archives on my phone - - Are You Lonesome Tonight by Bobby Hutchinson. I started reading it shortly after I purchased it, though the premise seemed silly, I liked it!

Just a reminder to anyone buying any Harlequin titles from Kobo. Almost everything from July 2010 and before have screwed up formatting which for whatever reason Kobo and Harlequin can't seem to get around to fixing even though they've both been told about it multiple times. Don't be fooled if the preview looks good either. I had a momentary lapse and forgot this and even though I downloaded the preview to my Aura HD (to make sure it was the right book) and it was formatted correctly, I bought the book and downloaded it, but the actual book still has the old screwed up formatting (both the kePub & ePub).

Wondering ig anyone bought and successfully converted to ePub any of Courtney Milan's $0.99 sale / extended content books?
They're still on sale and I finally decided to buy a couple - but I made the mistake of buying them via Kobo and of course they can't be downloaded ![]() |
