Anyone who is traveling to the US to utilize these codes should know that Delaware does not charge any taxes. Just found this out today.

Hmm... Kobo never charges me taxes when I buy from them, and we an 8.5% sales tax in the city I live in.

Yeah ours is 4%, but I'm wondering now if anybody in the US gets charged sales tax on Kobo. It weirdly didn't even occur to me until this discussion.

Just checked my receipts and, no, I haven't been charged sales tax. I wish that they would charge it, though, as Amazon does, because it would be easier than tracking receipts and paying when I file my taxes.

I'm in Texas and yes, I get charged sales tax every time so far.

Do you even owe since it's a foreign country (origination?) I know there are various rules for state-to-state, but have no idea if that applies to a company in a different country.

That's interesting. My receipts all have a line for Idaho tax: ID STATE TAX $0.00. But I have never been charged.

Even though you purchase from the Kobo US store, it may still be counted as an offshore purchase for tax purposes.

I don't know how US taxes work, but in New Zealand non-resident companies are not required to collect GST, and New Zealanders are not required to pay GST on foreign purchases under $400.

This means that Kobo does not need to charge New Zealand GST on ebooks even though local retailers do, and that New Zealand residents do not need to pay GST themselves on purchases from Kobo unless the total for a single transaction is more than $400.

Perhaps Idaho has similar rules.
