What a great game by Germany against a Brazilian team whose defence was virtually non-existent. All the coverage in the British Press today is about Brazil, but all the credit has to go to Germany. Well played, chaps!

I'm torn. I like Argentina (having travelled there and having some Argentinian friends), but I like the way Netherlands play and the skill they have. Should be an entertaining game and it should be interesting to see if the teams try to seize the day like Germany did or if they are pensive not wanting what happened Brazil to reoccur and take their chances in a 1-0 game.

Argentina have looked spotty on defence at times, but have only given three goals so far and have won every game. Suspect or not, they are winning.

As Netherlands coach said, this might come down to luck and probably will. Will we see a hand of god type goal decide this?

We've got a great looking matchup in the final no matter who pulls this out.

To be honest, Netherlands did nothing to advance to the final. Completely disappointing. I do not remember a single shot on target in the whole 120 minutes. With a team with the likes of Robben and Van Persie against a defense with DeMichelis (which I consider the biggest donkey in the Premier League) is a big too much.

But hey, better to lose the semi final than to lose for the 4th time the final. There would be no way you (and to be honest Argentina too) could beat Germany.

The only way Argentina can win this thing is to pull a "Greece 2004" on Germany, that is, defend the whole time and hope for a goal somehow when you are not defending.

They did an awful lot better than England! Reaching the semi-finals is a major achievement.

Yes, i agree. I was talking about this specific game. They were too fearful.

But in a lighter mood, i could say "just showing up to the game is already doing better than England!"

Well, I can't imagine that a team that sent home Switzerland and Belgium and the Netherlands is without a chance against any opponent.

^Yep. They are finding a way to win which in the end is all that matters.

Of the two teams left, Argentina is the undefeated one that has never trailed in a match. I don't expect Germany to play like they did against Ghana, but either of these teams could win on any given day. A couple of saves and a Messi moment is all it would take.

I expect an absolutely crazy game from Netherlands against Brazil on Saturday. It could be another blowout loss for Brazil.

I wonder how important the 3rd/4th place playoff is to the teams involved? It seems like a pretty pointless exercise to me - I don't know of any other football tournaments that have it.

Lol. It's a gigantic game for FIFA ranking points, but in the end, the FIFA ranking is pretty pointless. It only matters if you make it to the World Cup and play well there.

Some events play the 3-4 to determine the bronze medal, but this is more like the Stanley Cup and no one cares about who lost in the semi-finals or even who lost the final.
