Kobo Discounts: Coupon Codes + Discussion

IIRC doesn't it just show up in your library in the next few hours? Haven't had it happen in a long time so I'm not sure.

The last time I had this happen it took four days and a chat with Kobo CS (who after about 45 minutes basically said wait & see if it shows up in a day or two) before I was able to access the book (either download an ePub or a kePub).

Yeah, I'll keep checking because that's how I recall it worked last time this happened, that it did show up eventually. *crosses fingers* Oddly it happened with 2 books they just added today. I wonder if that's what makes it glitch somehow, new books in their system? Unfortunately for me, it happened to the one book I wanted the most and was planning on reading immediately, Murphy's Law right?!

Woots! Just away for 1 day and now the contest is starting!! 5% for 65% and above coupon seems pretty low, but compared to the previous rate, I guess it is still better than nothing. Keeping fingers crossed for at least one 75% to get my bundle set!

I had this problem once too, it showed up as a preview in both the library and on both my IOS and desktop app, even after a few days. I sent Kobo a few emails which they ignored although they finally responded after I opened a dispute via paypal and problem was eventually resolved for me. Hopefully the issue will resolve for you too!

Could be. The book I last had this happen to was new too, literally had only been available for a couple of hours. Another thing weird about it was when it was available for pre-order it had no "available date" like most books do.

How do you organize your books since you have several accounts? Do you have different readers logged in into different accounts?

I only put Calibre cleaned epubs onto my Glo, and I use an account for the Glow that never buys books. I just use the Kobo desktop account with the Glo for upgrade OS purposes. So because there aren't any books in the Kobo Desktop library I don't have to worry about books syncing because there aren't any on that account.

One of the main reasons that I only put Calibre cleaned epubs onto my Glo is because Kobo Desktop won't allow selective sync - all books sync irregardless. I don't read the same book simultaneously on any other device, just the Glo so I don't need to sync anything.

With respect to my Sony, I can selectively sync from Sony reader for PC; and for the BB Playbook I just send whatever books that I want to read on that up to cloud and then down into the epub reading app or the pdf reading app.

I do have a Kobo app on the Playbook, but you can only use 1 account at a time - and again - no selective download, so it's useless.

Hmm, the 'no available date' is strange, but it does not sound like coincidence that these were all new-to-Kobo-books. Mine too were only in for a little while because I'd been checking for them on and off all day. Anyways, happy news, my 2 books were there tonight.

Did you take a screen capture?

IIRC it was the next business day that I got the email saying I won and asking for confirmation of my name and address.

Also, check your spam folder as the email came from a "employeename"@kobo.com and not the same email addy as the contest code confirmations.

The codes work on books that accept a discount. Some books are couponable, some aren't. You can tick the "items eligible for promo codes" box. It's not failproof but it's a good start

No I didn't do the screen capture and I checked the spam folder but no luck
