It sure took long enough. It's been available in the UK for years.

I must say, I sure can't understand what some of these publishers strategy is. Why release just one, without and fanfare or advertising? It's not like we are waiting on Eddings to write the rest. |

That being said, I'll buy them if they're better than the U.K. editions. Damn OCR errors. |

I have the UK editions, and haven't noticed any particularly egregious errors in them. They are among my most often-read book, so I'm sure I would have noticed if they were full of errors.

It's good to meet a fellow Eddings fan. I get mocked continuously over at Westeros and SFFWORLD for liking his books... but they and The Wheel of Time got me hooked on fantasy. ... I don't reread books very often (too many new ones to read!) but I listen to the audio books of Eddings, Abercrombie, and Jordan on a never ending cycle while I'm at work. I read these as a young man, when they first came out in paperback from Del Rey.

I just recently reacquired them and used epubmerge to make them into one gigantic 5-volume ebook. Let the re-reading begin! ![]()

It's one of my favorite series, along with the sequel. I enjoy rereading them when I'm depressed because of the weather or winter (hate winter with a passion), it cheers me up.

Magician's Gambit just came out. They are publishing about 1/month. At this rate it will be several years until they are all out. I've been wanting to reread his series but I don't want to start until I have them all.

8 books total at 1 a month = 8 months total. I don't see how that's several years or for that matter even one year.

But there is also the 5 book Mallorean, the 3 book Elenium and the 3 book Tamuli, plus the 2 pending Belgariads. Ok, just over a year. I'm just impatient. I've been waiting since they published the series in the UK and since I expected them soon after, I gave away my copies of the Belgariad.

The Belgariad series was an odd read for me. The way cultural traits were used in place of characterization, along with the vagueness of the action scenes, made it seem like a tale related by someone's particularly batty gran.
