This was initially released in serial format. Since I hate serials, I was waiting for the whole book to come out. My wait has been rewarded with a nice sales price.

Roman Holiday: The Complete Adventure by Ruthie Knox - $1.99

I was so good in June - only bought 10 books - but the first week of July has been a killer on the wallet - so many good sales. The one-click button's been getting quite a workout.

Free from Kobo: three romances by Vanessa Grant (Zebra and Harlequin author).

If You Loved Me (orig. Zebra 1999) - was an earlier Kindle freebie

Quote:
She needs his help to find her son – no matter what the cost!

When Seattle surgeon Emma Garrett's son disappears on an adventurous kayaking trip, Emma desperately needs the help of an expert who knows the territory.

Nobody knows the Pacific Ocean’s north coast wilderness like Gray McKenzie, but when Emma arrives on Gray’s remote doorstep unannounced and determined to enlist his aid in the search for her son, she soon realizes that reawakening her past may cost far more than she’d imagined.

Together, they will journey through the wilderness that Emma finds so frightening, desperate to find Emma's missing son. - but can a city surgeon dedicated to rebuilding damaged children's bodies, and a man who lives and breathes wilderness, ever build a life together that includes both their worlds?
The Truth About Trish (orig. publ. as Hidden Memories, Harlequin Presents 1994)

Quote:
They had met under difficult circumstances, and Abby had fallen into his arms seeking comfort in her grief. Then she'd walked out on him and she'd been living a lie ever since. Now, Ryan Marsdon was back and he wanted her. But Abby had to protect herself from this man or she could lose her family, her reality, and her daughter.
Make Love, not Music (orig. publ. as Stranded Hearts, Harlequin Presents 1989)

Quote:
After having one marriage go sour very publicly, Nicole is wary of getting involved again. She's made a life for herself and her fourteen-year-old son working as a charter pilot on the Queen Charlotte Islands (Haida Gwaii). The last thing she needs is her arrogant new neighbor Matthew Kealy making her life complicated.

Matthew might be an acclaimed artist, but his criticism – of her son, her abilities as a mother and as a pilot – drives Nicole nuts.

And Matthew's reaction when he remembers the scandal of her divorce is everything she feared.

If only she could ignore his potent masculinity!

Only one book bought for me this week - an Entangled $0.99 new release... but I bought some actual paper back romances too - haven't done that in at least a year!

Hope those who celebrated had a good holiday!

Ok, had to nab this (if anyone else missed it in June's thread it's still free at Amazon and Kobo). I needed a new former soldier turned PI series... hope this is it!

How sad!

Reading your exchange about this author made me do some digging. Here's her bio from the Bodice Ripper Novels blog post: "STORMFIRE by Christine Monson- With Author Photo and Obituary[/URL" (December 1, 2011 at 8:01 AM), original source: Claire Martin, Denver Post Staff Writer. (September 19, 2003). "Obituary: Romance novelist loved adventure - on paper Greeley author preferred to live vicariously." The Denver Post . News: pA-24.

Thanks, that was a really good summary of the story. Now I am definitely not going to read it!

Sean is the alpha of all alphas. I don't think you can find one more alpha than him. It is the most memorable book I have ever read. It's was almost traumatic reading it.

Stormfire is one of the most controversial romance books there is. It's not for the faint in heart and to me there isn't much true romance in it. I found it a novel about the human spirit and how it can learn to triumph and overcome in even the most cruelest and hardest of circumstances and find peace in the end.

Checking in:

I hope you 4th was good. I stayed in and read a book. No historicals this year I am too engrossed in my current series. No book purchases either I think. I bought stuff for the apartment instead.

I read:

Bloodfever by Karen Marie Morning (4.5)

I am reading Faefever by Karen Marie Morning

Keep in mind if you read this series to have all books ready as they end going right into the next one like one gigantic book. I can't imagine have reading this waiting for the next one to come out it would have drive me batty. Ms Morning is an expert in world building and one of the most strongest writers I have read. I compare her writing to J.K. Rowling. It's smart, witty and very strong. No simplicity here. There are some romantic elements to the series and a HUGE amount of sexual tension between the heroine and the lead male. Also like most urban fantasy it's written in first person but the author does it in a way like you would see on TV. Like she is doing a memoir of what happen It's just so amazingly brilliant with how she writes first person it's going to be hard to revert back.

This is not your typical paranormal world. If you are tired of vampires, shifters and the like give this series a try. It's different and be prepare to set time away to read them because they are hard to put down. I think this series has given me bags under my eyes from staying up too much. This is one for my keeper shelf if I ever get the money right now I am reading them through Overdrive. I do have the first one though. It was a freebie many years back.

I read the first one, Darkfever, two years ago. I didn't care for the cliff hanger type ending, haven't gone back to the series, yet. I am trying to be more consistent in reading series, instead of jumping around like a rabbit.
