Good morning, everyone! Happy Sunday! Drinking a big mug of unbranded Keemun tea as we get our gear together for a romp in the jungle. We've been pouring over topo maps of the border zone between Laos and Northern Thailand, and 'maybe' we'll be able to actually have a walk in the woods without getting too lost! (This might be a 'first...') Felicity goes into the Cat House tomorrow morning as we head out east. Well, actually, we head out south 'cuz there are no roads that go east from here. We'll have to drop south-east, then turn back north-east after a few hours to get where we want to go. Ya gotta love undeveloped countries! LOL!

Yes, there would be 'political' danger rather than physical. Probably take a day or three and some 'tea money' changing hands to sort out. But nothing more than that. Being American with an Asian wife, both of us with cameras, makes military and political people think we are an investigative photojournalist team, and on the Burmese border side of Thailand that has caused us some rather scarey moments with our hands up while looking down the barrels of soldier's machine guns... while we try to convince them we are just poor lost tourists. (That time, we WERE doing an investigation of the burning of a Burmese village and execution of all the villagers by a rogue Thai General...but we didn't admit to it. )

Is tasty! It really requires guanciale, though I suppose you could substitute pancetta in a pinch. But, since I make my own guanciale, I use that. Makes for a lovely quick lunch.
