I'm about 40% of the way through Cold Days and really enjoying it. I have to admit that even though I liked the narrator for Ghost Story fine, James Marsters just grabs those nuances and takes it up a notch. He does snark so well.

More medical tests tomorrow, so I might set this aside until I know I'm feeling good. I hate to waste a good story that I'm reading/listening to for the first time when I'm not at my best.

Warning: Minor language, and wine. I don't think there are any major spoilers in this one but as always possible spoilers may go up to Cold Days.

The first person who asks me how Harry is able to be near the computer is going to get The Glare. We tried to go with there being a circle but I'm not professional enough to remember that and broke the thing pretty much all the time. I'm also having a blast learning about how I should do multiple takes PER question to make editing easier later on. Eesh.

Seriously, DON'T DO IT!

I made the mistake of reading them when the book was still a week or so away from being released. It almost drove me crazy!

Back when Jim released them on his website I copied each of them to a text file on the day that they were posted and when I had them all I made them into an epub, then converted it to a mobi, put it on my paperwhite and read them. Then when I got the .mobi on the release date I replaced the one on my paperwhite with it and read it. I don't believe that I went crazy (my personal opinion).

Perhaps you have more self-control and patience than the rest of us?

I didn't dare read the sample chapters. I knew it would make the waiting even harder. But the time and effort you put into providing them was greatly appreciated.

ROFL I know right! It's like an itch you can't scratch! I supposed I can always give in and get the ebook version on Kobo but for that price, I might as well get a hardcopy off Book Depository. But then again, I'd have to wait for delivery. Ahhh, you can't win all lol!

For me, sample chapters or excerpts are all teasers. (Unless it's a book from an unfamiliar author.) I don't like to be teased and then left hanging high and dry. It's "all or nothing"; either I get the entire book to read, or I read nothing at all.

It's not nice to tease!

I read the sample chapters the day they came out. Sure, it made the wait seem longer but the grins on my face are also worth something.
