The funny thing is the jobs he's been interviewed for turns out to be same jobs that the recruiters are sending him too. ![]() Most jobs I've come across are for people who are into computers or very high tech. This seems to be a very high tech town. Hubby isn't very tech savvy when it comes to all of that. That is my area. He knows how to use a computer and Office but that's about it. |

Honestly, as soon as hubby can retire we are getting out of the Charlotte area and back up to East Tennessee. Bristol, Elizabethton, Piney Flats, just back to someplace small and friendly!! I want to be able to go to Walmart without having to check the traffic report. I kid you not, it is a 30 minute drive usually, but it has taken me 4 hours because of traffic issues. I don't want to deal with traffic any more!!!!! And I want people to smile at me in the store when I smile at them, instead of looking at me like I'm a kook!
*sigh* I miss the simple life! I soo sympathize with you having to move to 'the big city' It sucks. I wish I could make it all better for you. I've gotten to where I just look at living here as pergatory. I've put in my 20 years, just 7 left to go! S |

If I had a place to live up there it would be the Boone area. I lived there before and I loved every minute of it. Problem is not many jobs there but if you're retired that isn't a problem. It doesn't get hot there at all no need for A/C a fan in the window will cool the place off. Everyone is super friendly. I loved shopping there and I remember the first time mom and sis visited and this lady just started talking to me at Lowes Foods and we just chatting up a storm. That's the norm there at least it was then. Mom and sis though we was nuts. I met so many nice people there. Unlike Elizabethon which is a poor working class area because Hampton is just down the road where the really poor do live some people can be a tad stand offish nothing as bad as here. They are just leery of outsiders sometimes. I was afraid of letting my niece and her husband visit because there are some racists there that proudly fly the flag of hate That is one that I wish would change about Elizabethton or Erwin but the white supremests are there. Of course stay away from Hampton for many reasons. I don't know enough about Piney Flats but it seemed nice when we drove through. I don't find any of that in Bristol or J.C. or Kingsport people are plenty friendly and there is diversity. Church Hill is really develop and has some nice stores and newer housing you might want to look there. That is one piece of advice to give you when you go house looking. Make sure the house is newer built and up to code. Look for grounded plugs and a breaker box. Most houses there still run old wiring and can't run modern computers or appliances as the old fuse box just can't handle it. The house we rented in Hampton was like that lucky was there for only a month. The townhouse we lived in for 7 and half years was only 12 years old and had everything up to code. Most of what I mentioned I learned after I moved there. Many times we looked to move to J.C. but the townhouse we rented was only 475 a month and it was a really nice townhouse and I loved it there most of the time but if I had to do it over again I wouldn't have moved to Elizabethton probably J.C. or Church Hill. Oh big difference, yes....we lived in the sprawling metropolitan area of Virginia Beach/Chesapeake/Norfolk for 15 years. Then moved to small town central PA (the mountains above Altoona) and that was one of the first things I noticed, how friendly everyone usually is at stores etc. Very nice! And NEVER a traffic jam (or a bridge lift! Hardly ever a train crossing stop either! All of those were part of daily life in Virginia).

![]() Hubby had his consultation yesterday and the first thing they told him was to get a new email and the second was his resume didn't have enough on it. (Can I say I told him so!) They also told him exactly what I told him. Focus on the Production work while it may not pay as much as you want as first you can move up real quick specially with a degree unlike HVAC where you would be stuck with the same pay unless you get certified training. They gave him a few job leads too on that. So he spent all yesterday redoing his resume and they are going to look at it again before he starts sending it out to places. I also set him up a new email that is more professional. |

This is typical NC summer weather now - stifling heat & humidity - with scattered afternoon pop-up thunderstorms that just make the humidity levels worse - punctuated with sporadic hurricanes. This pattern will remain until September at least. It always settles in the week of July 4th.

We got our first real electric bill today. It's $116 I was expecting higher but I do believe that little A/C helps out alot to keep the big one off which pulls more watts.
Hubby has worked all week at a temp job. He's installing duckwork at at a Jimmie Johns. The storage is almost completely empty and the second bedroom full of boxes of junk now. If all goes right the dressers will finally be sold and we wont need to pay for another month. I'd say we are pretty settle in. I just bought a Digital Antenna as we don't have cable. Haven't had cable in over a year. In TN it wouldn't have picked up anything but it works great here! We got all the local OTA channels and I only paid $10 at Amazon for it. Speaking of Amazon I am having alot of trouble getting my packages from them here. FedEx is very rough with the packages and they never show up when it says they will be a day or so later and now they don't even knock! I open my door to find cat litter all over the place as the box had been damaged. ![]() UPS delivered my latest order to Fuquay-Varina post office even though it says Raleigh on their site. ![]() I'm still hibernating for the summer! ![]() ![]() |

That is a wonderful electric bill - the NC summer has settled in! Stay inside and read!
Amazon has started using the Post Office for final local delivery of packages - that may start with UPS or Fed-Ex - with poor to middling results.... |

I plan to stay inside poor hubby is working out in this but at least it's has a roof. It's kind of interesting. Since he's been working outdoors he's been having me turn the air down to make it colder. Me I have acclimated where I can stand 73F and still put a thin throw on not feel overheated now he is freezing me out! ![]() I hope you are staying cool! |

Heat does not bother it. It is the cold I cannot take. I freeze from being on blood thinners and makes me knee hurt so bad.
This past winter I was to the point of begging someone to cut my knee of to get rid of the pain. For me cooler weather is coming so I can turn the a/c off and open windows ![]() |
