I've been looking forward to getting an e-ink android e-reader for awhile. Alas, my NST isn't enough since it's not compatible with the latest Moon Reader Pro software.

In any case, just ordered one on Amazon.

Woot, I was looking at the Onyx store and then it occurred to me, wait, try Amazon. There don't appear to be any cases available for it yet though. Still, I can't wait for Tuesday!!!

Looks like a good deal. No info on the cover, but the other ereader deals feature the official Boox ones.

My T68 (ordered from Arta-Tech in Poland last weekend) arrived today. I wanted it mainly to read Oyster Books and Kindle books on the same e-ink reader. Here are a few initial observations:

Oyster reader: Works pretty well and the rendered page looks great. There is a slight flash during page turns where the new page appears briefly, shows a blank page, then displays the new page (again). It's pretty quick and I can live with it.
Kindle app: I first installed the Kindle app from Google play store. I don't know if it's my huge library (I pick up alot of free books) or the size of my audible library, but the newest kindle app wasn't very well-behaved (for me). I did a google search and found (then installed) Kindle app 4.2.0.101 and it's working great.
Case: The port cutouts don't match the T68, but I have an old Kindle Fire (edited to correct: I believe it's actually Kindle HD 7") case that fits the T68 well. I wouldn't mind getting a case specifically made for the T68 but this will protect it in my handbag until then.

All in all, I'm pretty happy with the T68. The hardware is good quality and I was happy to learn the o-ring around the button on the front works as a page forward/back controller for the kindle app. (It doesn't work quite as well with the Oyster app, but the touch screen turns work fine.)

Hi guys,

just wanted to report a thing that I discovered accidently - the original Onyx cover (available in our store as a bundle with T68) interacts with the Boox. If you close the cover - the Boox goes in suspend mode. As soon as you open the cover, the Boox comes back from suspend mode. Didn't know about this feature during work with my test device. Nice surprize

What kind of cover is that?

Slim snap-in?
Slide-in that covers the edges?
Or... One with the dreaded rubber bands on the corners?

Thanks for the video.

That cover has two protrusions. I consider that bad design. The lower one digs into the plan of the hand. Just make the rim wider and build the magnets into that.

This cover is a no-go.

Also, can the pre-installed reading apps be updated from Play, or do you need to install those seperately, ending up with double apps, of which one will always be an old one?

It's the same kind of cover I use on my Kindle Paperwhite and Kobo AURA HD. So I think it's perfect for me.

Actually it is the best cover for this device I ever could imagine ! It is very close to genuine leather feeling (rear and front surfaces). The front cover in closed state is safely held by two magnets (those two narrow strips you can see in my video). It is very light and thin, but in the same time is solid and really protective.

Pre-installed apps are not available in PlayStore yet. Those regular PlayStore versions of reading apps, which we are using in our devices (Cool Reader and FB Reader), are actually not optimized for EINK screens. Pre-installed apps are also storaged in system folder and cannot be replaced by PlayStore versions (you will get error message). However you can easily root your T68,uninstall preinstalled apps and install play store versions instead, if you like. I would not suggest to do it though.

So if Cool Reader and FB Reader are updated in the Play Store are you stuck with the old version if you don't root?

The case looks great except one thing - this is my current case for my Nexus 7. It folds into a stand that can be used both portrait and landscape. Portrait is great for reading.

I would agree with you regarding design of folding options of the cover, but the main purpose is to protect fragile screen from breakage and not from scratches, like by Nexus 7. So the less foldings the better. A paper book usually also don't have built-in bookend. When T68 becomes popular, possibly a specialized producer of ebook covers will notice it and offer alternatives. I hope Onyx will also offer some other designes later.
