After editing TOC, ncx goes missing

Hi Guys and Girls,

I was wondering if anyone could help me with a small problem I am having when editing a retail epub with Sigil.

I have simply tried to remove the nesting of chapters in the TOC to ensure that I get chapter markers shown on my kindle after conversion. However when I do this and save. The next time I try to reopen the epub Sigil gives me the following error:

The OPF file does not contain an NCX file.

- Sigil has created a new one for you.

I have checked through the ncx and opf files but cannot see any reason for this happening. Can anyone point me to where I am going wrong please?

Thanks in advance

How do you remove the nesting? What is your process? If you are directly editing the ncx file, you must ensure that the integrity of the file is maintained.

I have simply used the "Edit Table of Contents" function and used the left arrow to decrease the heading level, which is why I am confused there has been some sort of knock on effect.
