Understatement of the year. Poor goalie for Switzerland wasn't given much help. 16 on-target attempts is insane. Count one off the woodwork and France might have scored a half dozen. Switzerland needs to beat Honduras and hope France doesn't mail in the game against Ecuador. France not wanting to face a potential Argentina might play in Switzerland's favour to advance, but sheesh. France looks to be one of the leaders to expect in the final four at this point.

This venue have a crazy goal average. All the games i remember in Salvador have been goalfests.

Totally.
Weekend predictions, I'll only have a mobile device so less Internet goofing. Argentina 4 - Iran 0 Argentina sends a message to Brazil: we're on your soil and stealing your cup. Germany 4 - Ghana 0 Germany sends a message to everyone, the path is through us. Nigeria 1 - B&H 3 B&H goes through to the next round. Belgium 3 - Russia 1 Russia learns it was lucky against Korea. Korea 0 - Algeria 2 Algeria tells the world that Asia is a lousy football region. USA 1 - Portugal 2 Potugal does enough to become the best team from the Iberian Peninsula at this World Cup. :P |

World Cup Fever!!!
HIMS, your predictions so far have been way off
![]() I can't believe Argentina and Germany struggled against their oppositions. The game between Belgium and Russia is the most boring I've watched as of yet. This WC is very unpredictable. |

I've just discovered the Unofficial Football World Championships. Works like boxing: The team who beats the champion is the next champion. Current champion is Costa Rica, who won the title with their victory over Uruguay and defended it against Italy. So the next unofficial world champion could actually be England, if they win their next match against Costa Rica. Makes me wonder if being kicked out of the tournament wasn't a clever ploy by England - should they win the title against Costa Rica, it will be a while till they have to defend it; had they stayed in the World Cup, they would have had to defend their world championship only days after winning it.

What a day... despite the exciting game, i can't see anything else other than an agonizingly slow exit for Portugal next Thursday. They look physically exhausted (and 5 muscular injuries in two games???).

I got Algeria pretty much right though.
![]() Hard predictions today with elimination on the line sometimes and nothing to play for in others. Netherlands-Chile Well, picking the powerhouses didn't work, so Chile makes a statement to the world and grabs group B despite the fact the Netherlands tries to play for a draw. They try, but they fail. Chile 3 - 1 Australia-Spain Spain manages to limp out of Brazil with a win, but only because Cahill isn't playing. Spain 1 - 0 Cameroon-Brazil Cameroon is playing for pride, but Brazil can advance with a win and they do, playing stingy. Brazil 2 - 0 Croatia-Mexico Advancement on the line for both teams in this game, this should be nail-biting. Mexico only needs a draw and plays conservatively and Croatia punishes them for it. Mexico scores late, but going down one early forced them to open up and Croatia advances. Croatia 3 - 1 Last edited by HomeInMyShoes; 06-23-2014 at 10:04 AM. |

I think Mexico wins today, as Brazil, so both advance.
I bet on a tie between Chile and Netherlands. Probably a win for Spain too. |

Looks like 2-2 today on the predictions. Mexico got the first goal and opened Croatia up much to do the exact opposite of my prediction. It's what it was. First goal to open up and a run away after that. Hats off to Mexico for getting through a tough group with both Brazil and Croatia.
Brazil really peppered the Cameroon net with chances. |
