I am currently reading "The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo", from Stieg Larsson.

This is the English version of the first volume of Swedish trilogy Millenium. I hoped for it to be also ePublished in French (Ces hommes qui n'aimaient pas les femmes), but that didn't happened. The problem is, I am so hooked, I doubt very much I will be able to wait for the second volume to hit ebook format... And I'll read it in French, hard copy.

Finished today In the Ruins by Kate Elliott (Crown of Stars series book 6)

Quiet good read. 4 out of 5. Would be 5/5 if not for repetitive

Started the last volume in the series.

The Millenium trilogy is incredibly good. To bad Stieg passed away, so there will sadly enough be no more books from him. And the last entry in that trilogy was published after his death. I don't remember if he managed to finish it himself though.

I have been hoping for an electronic French version too... but I guess I will end up reading the English version, like you. This is so frustrating And only the first volume is available? Double

Ok, did some fast research on Stieg, he did write the three books in the trilogy before passing away. But had actually planned for 10 books, with the synopsis for the first 6 ready. But sadly he only had time to finish the first three.

And also the fact that all three books were published after his death. He passed away in 2004, and the first one was published here in Sweden 2005. He sent it to a swedish publisher in 2003 who declined to publish the books, im sure they are cursing themselves for their stupidity today. But another publishing company chose to pick up the series instead.

I absolutely adore Stieg's mysteries (I read them in german pbook) A shame I do not understand any Swedish, though. The man was a great suspense writer, for sure. RIP!

Well, the Millenium-trilogy are the only fiction he ever wrote, he viewed them as his "retirement-fund". He did however write a couple of nonfiction about extreme rightwing activists (neo-facists) here in sweden and was an editor for a paper here called Expo that keeps tab of those kinds of people. He was also the scandinavian contributer for the UK-based paper Searchligt.

His non-fiction work inkludes the book "Sverigedemokraterna : den nationella rörelsen" which is about the rise of a politcial party here in Sweden which has a very disturbing view on immigration. To be nice you can say that they don't want any immigrants....

I just finished 'Plain Truth' by Jodi Picoult. The e-book from Fictionwise had a number of formatting errors (dashes in odd places, random iterations of the author's name) which was disappointing. It's listing for almost as much as the print version, so you would think they could manage a copy-edit. Thankfully, I got it during the half-off sale so I did not pay $9 for it! Anyway, it was a pretty good book. I have wishlisted some of her other stuff, but am not in a great hurry; I'll wait for the next sale.

About to start 'The Stolen Child' by Keith Donohue.

I would have serious doubts about buying books written by an author who is incapable of spelling the word "Millennium" correctly. Or is there some specific reason for the mis-spelling?

That is how it is spelled in Swedish. The books were written in Swedish.

Very good books. I have read the first two books three times and the last one two times.

i am glad to hear all these good reviews of stieg's work, i've been wanting to read them but they are always checked out of my library (and as others have said, the french version is not available in ebook). i suppose i could get the first ebook in english, but as everybody else has said, it drives me crazy to know that the others in the series are so far not available. plus, that ebook costs 24$ from fictionwise !!! that is too much. so i will just keep waiting for them to come back to the library.

In England, you can put in a request for a book; the library notifies you when it is available. Maybe something similar operates in France.

yes, i could reserve them, and the library will call me when they arrive. i haven't done it so far because i have plenty to read already... however, i have to say that all the good reviews here have made me move it higher on my "to read" list so perhaps i'll go reserve it soon (hopefully there won't be other reservations already). there are 3 copies of the first book in my library and they are supposed to come back the 24, 25, and 26 of november ; i think this is probably an indication that they have all been borrowed continually since they arrived.
