Kovid, I've run into the same problem as others have experienced with Sony Reader resetting/restarting when i attempt to read big news lrf files retrieved in Calibre. I read your FAQ saying to get around it by outputting the file to epub format, but I can't find any option for that in Calibre's interface. Is this something that must be done at the command line at this point? Maybe an option should be added under Fetch news that allows user to choose output format? I absolutely loved the fetch news feature, but can't use it anymore due to Sony's bug.

It's under preferences or similar, where you set the output format on a app-wide basis, rather than per-conversion - Easy to overlook!

Number in right hand of page

Hello:

Every so often in my epub book there are numbers on the far right hand side of the page.
These show up both on on my 505 readert and on Digital editions on my desktop PC.

Does anybody know what they are?

These are the "page" number. In most cases a "page" is a fixed amount of text, but they could be from the original paper book (if these are encoded into the ePub). Either way, the page number does not change with font size.

Useful: Is there any way I can get rid of them?

web2lrf and ePub output

I was wondering how I can use the command line news fetch tools to output ePub files. I remembered that back in the lrf days, the command is web2lrf. However i couldn't find web2epub, nor could I find any switch option in web2lrf. Should I call web2lrf first and then use any2lrf? Thanks.

Kovid, I have a bunch of converted epubs that --override-css and --remove-paragraph-spacing refuse to remove paragraph spacing from. Do you want a ticket with a sample book?

When I use --override-css options, the result epub file is not a valid zip file and can't be open by unzip.

I use linux version 0.4.103. I think this bug exists since 0.4.100 or early version.

The command line I use is :
Code:
html2epub ch12.html --override-css "p {margin-top: 0pt; margin-bottom:0pt;padding:0pt; text-indent:20pt}"
The html file I use is very simple:
Code:
<html>
<head>
<title>title</title>
</head>
<body>
test
</body>
</html>
