Some get it early while others have to wait.

My new Amazon Prime Music showed up right away on my Kindle Fire HD 8.9. Of course, I did notice that it did a full software update on Tuesday evening. Current version is 8.4.9. I suspect that update was to enable the new Prime Music. Good news is, the Fire lets me download the music. Bad news is, my Fire is low on memory so I can't really add much more in the way of music. And, of course, I can't actually get to the music files it does download, they're being put in hidden storage somewhere.

But when I look on my Roku, "Amazon Music" doesn't exist yet, and "Amazon Cloud Player" still does. Hopefully the people at Roku will push the update through quickly...

Prime Music is not supported on Roku at this time. Only purchased, AutoRip, and imported music is available. Prime Music that you've added to your personal playlists will not be shown, but the rest of the playlist will play normally.

Does that mean it's coming to Roku, or not? Is it imminent, or something that maybe someday will be added but don't hold your breath?

I don't know how this is going for the folks with tablets and Kindle devices, but for me with a Roku, it's an utter mess.

The Amazon Android Music App on my Samsung Galaxy s5 just updated to the new Amazon Music. However, my Kindle Fire HDX 7 has not yet updated.

Since I just got the notice of this yesterday, I am willing to wait for the updates. After all, two days ago I wouldn't even have been thinking of getting this free music onto my Roku.

The music tab on my kindle fire HDX has been updated and I can now access prime music.

Unless you are on an older version of Android. In which case you get the old version of the app. Annoying, as my older Visio tablet has excellent speakers.

I played with this last night, and was not impressed.

There are only about two dozen musical categories, and no sub-categories. For instance, there is one category for "hard rock and heavy metal." Worse yet, you look in that category and see Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel.

WinAmp was a lot more sophisticated than this back in the 1990's.

Still nothing for my HD. Funny how non-Amazon devices get the update before Amazon devices

My HDX had an update Monday or Tuesday which apparently included Prime music as I just checked and it's working here.

I was excited by this announcement but for me it turns out to be very very disappointing compared to Google Play Music.

I started by searching for the top 100 albums in my Google library. Only found 2 available on Amazon Prime Music. I did notice that they were pushing a lot of "Sounds like ..." and "In the style of .." unknown artists but just 2 out of 100 of the albums I listen to are available.

I'll wait to see if Amazon actually tries to compete or if this is just a marketing gimmick to sell Prime (which I already have and like).

I hear ya. The vast majority of my favorite groups are missing in action. Kinda hard to build meaningful playlists if the music you want isn't available. Still, I have been able to find some stuff I like in a few categories.

AOL Radio and TuneIn Radio remain my favorite streaming music sites. Prime Music is a nice compliment. Until PMs catalog improves dramatically, it will remain a secondary source that I'll listen to occasionally.

I noticed that too. What's with that? I don't want to hear Barry Manilow doing AC/DC, I want to hear AC/DC doing AC/DC.

Another thing I've noticed is that some of these "playlists" have re-recordings of hit songs and not the original recordings. I don't care if it is the original band/singer; it sounds different and I most thoroughly hate that. As a result, I've deleted them. I want the original version.

It's probably no coincidence that this is launched around the time of the Amazon phone. I wouldn't get Prime just for this, but since I already have Prime, I will use it.

I only noticed that there wasn't much, I didn't notice Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel. OMG!
