I notice how nice and tan the backround looks on your attached pic. I wish the sephia was a tad darker on Scribd. It doesn't look that nicely tan to me on my Nexus. I think the kindle app looks darker. Otherwise its pretty good as is.

Just turn the brightness all the way down. I leave my tablet on that setting. Make sure on Scribd auto is selected and brightness slider is at min. Setting.

That is how I have it at night. It took a while for me to figure out I had to put the brightness inside the app on auto. I couldn't change the brightness on the device until I did that.
I just switched briefly to the day setting and back to sephia and it does look nicely tan. I think its just that I have been looking at for some time that its like an illusion and looks whiter. But then I compare it to white and its really not.

Just got a response from Scribd on the Nexus 7/KitKat 4.4.3 issue. It doesn't sound like it's going to be a easy fast fix but here's hoping.

I'm so so sorry for the trouble you're having on Scribd after the Android update. You're not alone. I've had a few other Nexus 7 readers with the same problem. Unfortunately there's nothing that I can do right at this moment to get it working properly but rest assured that the engineers are working on it and trying to figure out a fix for the new Android OS.

I really appreciate you sending the screen shot of how the titles are displaying. It's really helpful to see how the titles look to you so that we can figure out what's going wrong.

We're glad that you've spread the word about Scribd and we'll make sure we do what we can to fix the issue that the update caused. I'll keep you posted on the progress of the fix. I'm hoping that we can figure it out soon for you.

In the meantime, it may be possible to read on the mobile website, it does require being connected to the internet to read with us, but it's at least a means to access content while we figure out the app troubles. We're working on it now and we'll fix it as soon as possible.

Thanks for the update Blossom. I too think the CS meant books when they said titles.

I'll wait before updating then until they have this resolved. Just glad its not automatic. I haven't seen it available yet anyway in that drop down thingy.

Hopefully they can fix this soon. Kind of a bummer for those that update not knowing and have a subscription. Does the web version work the same way? Of course that is a battery drain with wifi having to be on.

I can't imagine what format they are using in their app that would cause this. I updated my 2012 N7 and that has the same issue. I checked and the lcd_density didn't change so the display should still be ok even if they were using some kind of weird pdf type format that required a specific screen size.

It looks to me like a formatting issue.... It's a mystery and way over my heads but the Lady Scribd is super nice and said in her latest reply she will monitor engineering and keep me posted on the progress. So let's send positive smart vibes their way so they can fix it.

No clue I haven't tried it. I am using my Kindle Fire for the moment. I did check my other read apps and they all seem okay.

Good news! While there isn't a total fix yet they have a found a work around. I tested it and it works!

I've got some news! So it looks like the issue is that with the update, the 'Large Font' option that's available on the Nexus 7 is handled differently and that's what's causing the trouble. We're going to create a fix for that with the next app update but that's not going to be out for another few weeks.

However, you should be able to enjoy everything on Scribd right now by just changing the settings on your Nexus 7 from the "Large" font option to "Normal" and then changing the font size for the Scribd app directly in the display options that we have if it's too tiny to read.

Would you try it out for me and see if that works for you?

Now they are talking about the actual device setting font right? I think I went in there at some point and changed from normal to large as I like stuff a bit larger. I do that on my computers too.

Glad they found this so quickly though and glad that you can get it to work again. I haven't gotten the update option yet, but I am glad to know the app can still be used with this temp fix until they give it a update. I am guessing this wouldn't affect a lot of people. Most probably keep the font settings on normal. Or maybe I am wrong there.

Yep that's the setting. I would never thought to look there. After you switch it to normal you need to go in the Scribd app and enlarge the font again to your liking.

I am just happy I can read again on my N7.2!!!!

The recently read continues to populate with items I have removed multiple times. Annoying!
