Usually the crash.log contains a message with the info at what line koreader crashed. You can report the crash with the crash.log in github or start tinkering yourself.

For more info: Enable debugging mode, redirect output to a log file for a more detailed error log.
If you enable telnet for your device and run koreader from a terminal in debug mode you see a lot of info in real time. This last approach gives you the most info.

Im currently using kobo aura 6' and the koreader functionality is absolutely awesome.

However, as was discussed previously, the standby functionality somehow does not work. It displayed Standby text for a second, then the device won't go to sleep.

Apologise if I missed anything, but have this issue been solved for firmware 3.1.0? Or is there any workaround?

Im currently using fmon to go to koreader

I do understand there is an issue with firmware 3.3.0.

Thank you.

There is a workaround described here.
Install Start Menu, change the scripts as described and copy the alternative suspend scripts to the koreader directory.

Well, crash.log ALWAYS jut contains one line:
NtxHwCfg_GetCfgFldStrVal:[WARNING]Config version too old !! Please update config file !!
I don't think this helps anyone...

Nightmode - (Koreader for Kobo Glo)

I have Koreader (v. April 2014) on my Kobo Glo with StartMenu.

I do not know where is the program to allow nightmode. Could someone please give me a link? Up to now, I only have the icon...

Is it working well?

If you install the latest release, you'll find that nightmode is a new feature of koreader.
If you want nightmode for Nickel (Kobo environment), too. The easiest way is to use Start Menu.

So start tinkering already!
But before you do---it's probably something simple with your device, instead of koreader (,since there are no error messages from the Luajit compiler.) Like an error on your device's internal memory. I got rid of some funky behavior by simply running windows chkdsk on the user partition. If you enter via telnet you could even try to do some checks in the linux system with busybox.

Thanks, I'll try it. I arrive just in time.

It works very well!

Is there anything I can do to find out why they are crashing?
Is there any timer in Koreader?
Seems it always crashes when I don't touch the reader for more than a minute or two.
No matter if I read a book or am in the file manager.
It happens always.
Is anyone else using Koreader on a Kobo Mini and check if it happens there too?

Sorry to hear that, is this something new with the FW 3.4.1 Mini only update?

Sweet...I updated to 175 and found the feature I was looking for: an option to automagically open the last book.
Thanks guys...keep up the good work!

Should we expect this to be incorporated in StartMenu05 or the only solution is to make the script changes manually...It looks like the tinkering is still WIP so maybe I should wait.
Cheers

These changes concern files in the koreader folder. Therefore, I guess these changes will be included into one of the next koreader packages.

I wanted to share a batch file that I run every time I do a nightly update. I rename the koreader directory to something like koreader.A and make sure the batch file is in the koreader.A directory. I then put the new koreader directory in place. Running the batch file from the koreader.A directory gets all the current changes. Because I use Ken's uimanager.lua script changes to get it to sleep correctly I always make a backup before overwriting it. Good thing too because last week I had to fix the uimanager.lua.

Spoiler:

copy settings.reader.lua ..\koreader
copy defaults.lua ..\koreader
xcopy cache ..\koreader\cache /s
xcopy data\dict ..\koreader\data\dict /s
xcopy data\tessdata ..\koreader\data\tessdata /s
copy ..\koreader\frontend\ui\uimanager.lua ..\koreader\frontend\ui\uimanager.lua.bak
copy frontend\ui\uimanager.lua ..\koreader\frontend\ui\uimanager.lua
xcopy history ..\koreader\history /s
copy Restore.bat ..\koreader\Restore.bat
pause

After the batch file copies dictionaries and history to the new directory it copies itself. You have to be running the batch file as administrator for that part to work.

I guess I blamed the wrong program.
I installed the stable Koreader version from 2 months ago, and started Koreader as usual through Start Menu. Same thing happened, crash after the first few seconds non reading break.

Back to the latest nightly (which finally has all the features I want), and this time I started Koreader from Nickel through the koreader.png. No crash.
Only disadvantage, no screen saver and coming back from Koreader (e.g. to start USB).

So there is something wrong with the Start Menu on my Kobo Mini...
While I wrote this text I just had to reboot my Mini to get out of Koreader, and it stayed on the Start Menu, and I did not do anything on the device for a few minutes, and now again it is not reacting, I had to reboot it.
Any idea what that is? (I guess I am in the wrong thread for this, but since I started here in KoReader I wanted at least to close the case here, I will post a new one at Start Menu).

UPDATE: Solved. The SD card was the culprit. exchanged it and everything was fine!
