Depending on exactly how one counts, I bought over 180 in two transactions this year. The Angry Robot "100 for £100" bundle included several I already owned, and the Doctor Who Humble Bundle consisted of over 80 issues collected into several larger volumes.

If the entire WoT is in that Hugo Voter Packet, how can I get it from the Netherlands?

I haven't checked into this thread in a while, mostly because things have been out of control. Does one show up at an AA meeting while still on a bender?
April wasn't too bad, as I ended the month with no net gain to my TBR. May, of course, saw another Kobo contest, and I bought a total of 21 books for $40, or 18 books for $35 if I don't count three replacements of old paperbacks. The outlay is far from disastrous, but I only read 11 books and only 5 of them were purchased ebooks. Any hopes of reading more than I bought this year were dashed during the multi-use 90% code, but my game plan had been to draw a line under that sale and start fresh and I blew it. The one bright spot is that I haven't bought a Kindle deal in seven weeks; I've been tempted a few times but walked away. This means that at least all my May purchases were wishlist at a good price. I hope not to buy anything at all in June (so far, so good). There's nothing on my wishlist that I'd get to soon, so even if there's another contest, I think I can sit it out. |

The total amount of ebooks I've ever bought is around 340 or so and about 300 of those were bought from Kobo are 50% or more discount. I've only been buying for 2 years so I'll catch up soon enough. That total is dwarfed by the amount of pbooks I've bought over the years and at much higher prices too.

Well, I'm still on a bender, but am unrepentent though slightly nervous. I finally kept my ebook purchases under the $40 monthly budget in the past two months, but then I wandered into the Dollar Store in Colorado Springs, where I am temporarily sidelined on my cross-country road trip, and found beautiful stiff-spined hardbacks from major publishers of authors I've enjoyed: Ivan Doig, Dennis Lehane, Lisa Jackson. I took away eight. At the local B&N I found National Geographic titles on sale: Guide to State Parks, Guide to Scenic Highways and Byways, and Field Guide to the Birds of North America. You know...perfect bedtime reading. I love books. I love seeing my ebooks lined up in Calibre. I love the smell and feel of new print books. I love the musty smell of antique books. Wherever I travel I often drop into the local library, usually to check out the local history and trails, but now I think it is just a comfortable habit. I particularly love travel and guide books with lots of pictures. If I attend a local author lecture, I cannot resist buying the book. But that is okay. It doesn't come close to breaking the bank or alarming my family. There are worse paths in life than a love affair with books. Still, this thread has been an invaluable reality check. I now know exactly what I spend and pass up books that will likely not be read in the next year or so. I am comforted that I am not alone and enjoy hanging with folks who also love books. |

Well, I went on my monthly book buying spree.(Okay, the 2nd spree this month) The new Stephen King, plus a few others that I could use a coupon for. I even had one 75% off! Oh well, that's enough until next month! (I hope)

How do the rest of you deal with wishlists? Are you always adding new books? Are you forever pruning back? Or both?
I have certain wishlist rules. I only allow one book from an author I haven't read before except with anthologies or omnibuses. I only keep books that I will definitely buy at £2.99. If I only want a book at £0.99 or £1.99, then I don't want it enough to buy it. I have 236 on my Amazon wishlist, about 20 on my Kobo list. None of the Amazon ones are discountable or cheaper on Kobo. |

For me it's just a list of things I don't want to forget about. My target price varies all over the place, and I might not even need a discount (there's a book on my list which has always been £1.02), but I don't actually need to buy it now, so I might as well leave it.
I have multiple lists at Amazon, currently 4 for kindle books and 1 for everything else, and I hate it when they go over a page (25 items). That's when I start trying to figure out if I can cut anything. My default list currently has 26 items, which bugs me a lot, but not enough to remove or buy anything, so far. ![]() I didn't realise Kobo had a wishlist. Edit: You have 236 books you'll pay £2.99 for? I think there are about 50-60 total in my 4 lists. |

Kobo doesn't have a wishlist but I bookmark the books I'm interested in and put them into a folder in chrome.
I really like reading and buying books too. I'd pay more than £2.99 for a fair few of the books on my Amazon wishlist but £2.99 is nearly always a buy price for me. |

Some good writers are terrible people. I've just removed 10 books from my TBR pile, and I won't be buying any more by Marion Zimmer Bradley or Elizabeth Waters.
If you want to know why, check this thread. Although it's disturbing stuff. Last edited by pdurrant; 06-15-2014 at 03:17 AM. |
