If publishers make it hard for ePub to be borrowed from the library, a lot of users who did download ePub will be switching to Amazon. Again Amazon wins and Adobe/ePub loses.

If this stuff is confusing to us, on people who are in the know down to the details, imagine how utterly lost a normal consumer will be.
Have you ever bought a new computer with a new version OS or just upgraded the OS and found old hardware no longer works because there is no longer a working driver for that OS? I have a perfectly good HP laser printer that does not work with with Windows 7-64 bit or Windows 8 64-bit because there is no driver for such. The printer works perfectly well. But without a driver, it's a paperweight. So yes, you can be forced to buy something to replace what you have that still works perfectly well.

Sony might update given that they still sell eBooks outside the US and in order to keep customers there able to read what's been purchased, I do think a firmware update will be needed. Heck, when Sony went all ePub, they did manage to update the old 500 which most people thought was a goner.

Did anyone got problem?
Sounds like everyone happily keep on using adept, and the apocalypse didn't happen.

Probably some people using their minds and actually realized the mess it would be.

Hell, Adobe did it themselves with the switch from CS3 to CS4 a few years ago!
Don't forget that Amazon themselves screwed customers over big time when they stopped selling eBooks (before the Kindle) and stopped allowing downloads of already purchased eBooks. When people needed to download their PDF again in order to update the DRM, they were unable because Amazon just simply stopped allowing that. So remember, even Amazon is guilty of screwing over customers and causing them to lose access to their legally purchased content.

I noticed I had a problem on the laptop with my stripping of DRM on eBooks from Amazon downloaded with Kindle for PC. I then removed it, deleted the eBooks, downloaded a fresh copy of Kindle for PC (not the Win 8 garbage), redownloaded all of my Amazon eBooks, had the plugin make a new key file and all was well. This was after January 2014. This was done February 15, 2014.

Sometimes it's a glitch on the authorization server side of things. It does get fixed eventually. Last time I had such an issue was earlier this month with about a 3 hour window where I could not download from the library. It might have been a longer time down, but it was less then 8 hours for sure.

Sony has announced the closing of the UK store as well. I think that only leaves Japan. I doubt they will be selling them for long. Considering that T3 wasn't even marketed in the US, the may be getting out of the eBook business entirely soon. I love my T1 (and 600 I had before it) even though I own a Kindle Touch which I rarely use.

@JSWolf,

why are you replying to a ton of really old posts in this thread, especially as you are merely repeating the same idea in multiple forms, in a way that everyone else has already?

Also,

It doesn't really matter how well it runs on Windows, since that wasn't the issue. Two people who use Linux were discussing a problem with a WINE program. Who are you helping by telling them (again, 4 months later) that it's "their fault" for wanting to run Linux? Is it personally offensive to you when people run Linux? Did they insult your Windows computer?

Did they even say it is Adobe's fault that it is unstable? No, they simply said (for better or for worse) that it IS unstable! I am sure that as knowledgeable Linux users, they are perfectly aware that they are making tradeoffs/sacrifices, and are prepared to deal with it.

Thank you for the bile. We all learned a great deal from your explanation, I am sure.

Did I said that ?
ADE 2 via wine isn't unstable, it don't start at all.

And I do have a windows to boot to (for games), i just don't want to.
And, as ADE 1 worked almost flawlessly with wine, quite some regression.

I have to disagree -- not because I am biased to believe that Linux would be easier to configure (if you knew what you were doing), but because apparently JSWolf doesn't like Linux, so he can't use a machine that runs on it.
