I've still got about a third of Deadhouse Gates (Malazan Book 2) to go, so Harry will have to wait for a little bit longer. But it will be my next read after that

Well, best start with Stormfront, as this is the first book in the series. Although each book can be read separately (well, most), for the red line in the story it is best to start at the beginning.

Skin Game

Crazy me, I sat up last night and read about 1/3 of the book. Not sure how much I will retain and might have to peruse the previous chapters to be sure. I didn't really want to put it down but the need for sleep and having to get up this morning and go to work won the battle.

What I've read so far is very good and one development I really like:

I like the way the parasite in his head is being handled. I really thought that Lash giving her "life" to save Harry was a missed opportunity to have a new ongoing character in the series, but I guess this little ongoing piece of the Denarian imprint is a good way to keep that "spirit" alive.

I really hope we end up with another Bob-type partner for Harry because I really like the Butters-Bob team-up right now and wouldn't want that to end. Maybe the newly carved second-home for Bob can be the new spirit of intellect's first home?

Agreed. Start with Storm Front. Don't give up on the series until you've read book three. I know it can be intimidating to begin a fifteen book series and think "ugh I've got fourteen more books of THIS??" but remember that Storm Front was Butcher's first novel, and he had yet to find his style. Even saying so, I loved Storm Front, and in my opinion, the novels just get better from there.
In either case, give it a try and let us know what you think.
