![]() I think the calibre-parallel.exe runs when there is a task to do in calibre. I think there were two running plus the main calibre.exe. I figure two, since there were two news feeds that needed to be fetch, converted, and then emailed. I think one of them did not shut down correctly? Perhaps a bug with calibre? In the next couple of hours, I plan to run another session. This time I also created a calibre-parallel.exe -s to see if that helps it shut down? I am going to be monitoring task manager to see what happens and etc. Wish me luck! |

Ok, erm, good luck
![]() Maybe you should try setting up the task to run at the login of which ever user is the first to login? |

This PC is running 24/7, so I don't think the login would help, unless it triggers when I enter the password to re-login after the screensaver ran?
I was unsuccessful to run a New fetch in Calibre, because it triggers as soon as you save a new schedule for a new news feed. Hmm? And I know it has a built-in timer that it will then run again the next day and etc.... I guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow again. One thing I must admit, I didn't have this much trouble with Win XP. Damn MS, forcing us to move on so we can continue getting windows updates! |

I figured why most tasks I run are shown "hidden". lol - http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/w...0-d97bde69d060 -- look for the post tagged as: Most Helpful Reply
I guess it makes sense now. I tried another app, and I was wondering why it wouldn't appear on the screen. I'll keep on diggin. If I finally find a solution for calibre to run and close, I'll be happy. ![]() Last edited by JayKindle; 05-21-2014 at 02:17 PM. |

No rant, just an honest observation. It's a bit clunky. I think it needs a new overhaul and design. When you open it aside with other newer apps, it has a very old fashion design.
Works great for what I need, but visually it looks very retro. Agreed? |

If you mean that it doesn't have fancy affects... Maybe.
I personally like the way it looks and am not ready to have to relearn everything because it looks "clunky" ![]() |

@JayKindle - after an hour try scheduling the calibre command line option --shutdown-running-calibre see http://manual.calibre-ebook.com/cli/calibre.html

Hmmm - I 'interpreted' the following as meaning any child processes, is the calibre-parallel.exe process not a child of the calibre.exe process ?
