There is a thread in News about Scribd signing Simon and Schuster.
For those that got the trial, its romance reading heaven. Jude Deveroux, Karen Hawkins, Liz Carlyle, Johanna Lindsay, Sabrina Jeffries, etc. That is just what I saw on a quick scroll through recent.

It's also got a TON of m/m and that usually can't be found in libraries.

That is true. I am reading one right now on Scribd that came highly recommended on goodreads and added a few others to the library to read later.

I am going to have to buy a 7 inch tablet though now soon. I am still waffling though. I wish the Fire HDX didn't have that blue border issue as I like its aspect better than the Nexus, plus I kind of like my Fire HD and would prefer to get another fire.

I am dropping my Phildadelphia library subscriptions I have been paying for later this year. I'd rather have the selection of Scribd with no wait times.

IIRC some of you have purchased Emma Hart before, a couple of $.99 by her, the best deal IMO is: The Game Series Complete Collection

Also $.99 by Emma Hart: Late Call

And looks like all Whitney Gracia Williams books are on sale $.99

*shouts out to apesmom, hope you see that one^^^*

That's good news about S&S being available on Scribd. I'm still unsure as to whether or not I'll keep it after the trial. On my Nexus 4 phone the page turn function didn't work as well as I was used to on other ereader apps. Instead of turning the page I would keep getting the options menu--very annoying! I just switched to dh's Nexus 5 and I'll see if the app works better on a slightly bigger screen.

I have boht of those currently. But I found that Brooklyn has much better selection for romance, so I am dropping FLP. Plus its easier to renew with BPL since I can do that online, rather than having to send a check I have to with FLP.

I still have many months to go with BPL, so I might make another decision in the future. If I can't find an affordable tablet with great screen, I might have to rethink Scribd in the future. My hands are really hurting right now with my 2012 Fire HD that is the 8.9 inch.

I much prefer to read on e-ink, but I don't think that will ever be an option sadly. But there is a lot of stuff on Scribd that even BPL doesn't have in the catalog. A lot of great back list stuff. There is especially a lot of great historical romance back list to be had. I often prefer the little "older" stuff than the new stuff coming out anyway.

Overall this means for me to buying very little books in the near future. Reading off what I already own, Overdrive with BPL and Scribd should get me going. And not to forget the monthly prime loan which I use to work my way through the Montlake titles.

Good to know, about BPL! Hopefully I will be able to start checking out books soon. I have FLP but no cost since I am in the state.

My goal is the same....to make a commitment not to buy any books at least for the rest of this year. With BPL, FLP, my archive of over 5000 Kindle books, and possibly Scribd, I should certainly be able to find books I want to read! So I am done buying books for the rest of 2014. I am even ignoring the Kobo coupons. I have so many that I've already bought, from there and Fictionwise, that I have no excuse to buy more. Plus I want to support the libraries more.

I should really be on a no-buy also for the rest of the year or perhaps the rest of my life! Between my Kindle and Kobo libraries, plus my local Overdrive library, I have no excuses at all!

Good luck!

There are still a few authors who are still autobuys for me to make such a commitment . I mean "buy and read on release day" types, not buy and to the TBR. I have been better about buying new-to-me author's complete series this year. So far the only one I've bought without at least reading book one has been Laura Florand's Chocolate series. And I have since started it, so I don't feel so guilty. Of course I still have a gazillion series I bought last year to start. But many of those were with the magic coupon so I don't feel too awful about it. I do need to get back to reading/rereading the Harlequin books I purchased during THAT big sale. I read a bunch of them in 2012, but fell out of the habit last year.

I think the cover view in Calibre helps with that as it's like shopping in your own library. Not sure why, but when I look at my TBR list by covers rather than title I always find something...

Thanks for the tip on Calibre cover view. I hadn't thought of that.
