So that's the difference between a kepub and an Adobe DRM epub?
kepub is Kobo's version of epub and it's the version they use to sync between all devices and the desk top.

But you'll need to go to the Kobo devices sub-forum if you want further info on kepub and how to convert it etc.

It turns out the Kobo desktop downloaded file was still DRM free like the other books of the series, even if I couldn't download it straight from the website.

Thanks for the help, and last time off-topic (for now).

I don't know of any browsers where you can't use a promo code as long as the book is promo eligible.

A Brief Passage to India

First of all, I'd like to once again say a big THANK YOU to all of you wonderful folk who generously share their coupon codes on this thread. I, for one, being a resident of an ineligible-for-contests country, am very grateful.

By way of a small contribution to this marvellous thread, I'd like to report on my recent 'travels' to India. For months now I've been aware of the marvels of that great sub-continent but have been a reluctant stay-at-home until the last week or so. However, my frustration at being unable to purchase novels by Australian writer Tim Winton for below $14.99 on the Australian site (oh, the irony!), as they are not eligible for promo codes, finally drove me further afield. I'm so glad I did!

Most of Tim Winton's books are available for 260.19 rupees. (100 rupees = approx. AU $1.70.) And that's without using a code! So after snagging a few with 55% & 65% codes, I was a pretty happy camper.

The cheap shelf price of these lead me to investigate Picador titles. For starters, there's the free Picador Book of 40 (a commissioned anthology with a '40' theme by various writers to commemorate Picador's 40th anniversary). The same book is $9.99 in Australia! There are also heaps of other excellent literary fiction titles listed for RS 260, including Booker Prize-winners like Alan Hollinghurst The Line of Beauty (which I've read and is stunningly good) and John Banville's The Sea.

I also stumbled upon some worthy titles by Pegasus Books. A low-high price search will yield some interesting books for RS 49, including The Woman Who Could Not Forget: Iris Chang Before and Beyond The Rape of Nanking and Fidel & Gabo: A Portrait of the Legendary Friendship Between Fidel Castro and Gabriel García Márquez. I also picked up Guy Endore's classic, The Werewolf of Paris, for RS 1.99. (Not a typo!)

Open Road Media has been mentioned before somewhere on this thread. I tried an "Open Road" search and found some juvenile fiction titles based on Greek mythological characters that sound interesting for RS 2.99 by Robert J. Harris & Jane Yolen, (e.g. Odysseus in the Serpent Maze). For younger kiddies there are quite a few books at the same absurd price. A bit 'pricier' are some Berenstain Bears titles for RS 49. For RS 7.99 I picked up The Erma Bombeck Collection (apparently classic 70s humour with at least 1 title in the top 1000 of goodreads.com's list of "books that everyone should read at least once," not that that's really saying much). Titanica aficionados will be pleased with Walter Lord's The Complete Titanic Chronicles for RS 49 (comprising the classic A Night to Remember and The Night Lives On) if they don't already have them. There are also a heap of Lawrence Block novels for RS 1.99, if that's your bag.

And last but not least, Simon & Schuster have some nicely produced public domain titles for free, including an annotated and nicely formatted War and Peace (trans. Maude) with bonus material, The Picture of Dorian Gray, Dracula and the 1831 Frankenstein.

Have fun!

I'll be following up these leads and I'm sure others here will also.

You do have to make sure that you are buying a non-agency book.

For those who 'travel' to India, are you able to use Paypal? I keep getting a "Sorry, but we couldn't complete your order because an unexpected error occurred. Please try again later." error.

If not Paypal, what payment method do you use? I hesitate to try a credit card because I think a batch of small charges from a foreign country will trigger a security alert.
