Bookeen can't make a screen magically appear out of thin air. There are no 8" screens with a higher resolution, and personally I think it's acceptable for a reading device.

Actually, there is the 1600x1200 8-incher that's the base for the Triton screen. The Onyx Book i86 is said to use that screen in monochrome mode, although it hasn't materialized yet.

Pocketbook's releasing a reader with that screen. Seems the Cybook Ocean will be D.O.A.

I'm still planning to get the ocean personally.

I have no experience with either Cybook or Pocketbook. So if I were to get an 8" device, I guess I'd go by resolution. Since you seem to own Cybook devices, there must be something good about them which makes you prefer a Cybook to a Pocketbook despite the far lower resolution. So I'm interested: What is it?

The "bad" resolution didn't hit me when seeing the ocean at the Paris book fair. (Not having read the specs beforehand). So i don't see that as a real problem.

I'm french, it's easier to find the cybooks, and to get support if needed.

What i like about the cybooks, they are not bloated. They do less, but do it well.

I'm used to bookeen's interface, the good point as well as the bad. It works for me.

Unfortunately, to my mind, they lack basic features that pretty much every other reading device has. My last Bookeen device was the Cybook Opus, and, at that time, it was lacking fundamental functionality such as searching and setting bookmarks. I don't know if this has changed since.

I think that's part of the stuff added with the ocean. They did a bit of refresh to the interface, lots of the "where seriously missing" features where added.

But the thing i'm most happy with, is the margin setting ! That was, IMHO, the one thing i really really missed.

Still no Cybook Ocean.
Takes me right back to the months delay waiting for the Cybook Gen 3.
But not this time Bookeen : my wife's birthday can not be delayed unfortunately.

I've been looking out for it too. At this rate it will be out of date before it even goes on sale.
