No promo code entry box

This is a question about the store, not a device, but I thought this was the best fit forum.

I recently received a large promo code, however the checkout screen did not give me an option to enter the code. I tried using Chrome/Windows, Firefox/Linux and Firefox/Android, all with the same result. I asked Kobo support and they suggested I buy the book at full price and they would refund the difference. I'm not keen on this solution since 1) the book I want is quite expensive and 2) the coupon has by this time expired. Also, I don't want to have to do this every time I want to buy a book using a coupon.

Has anyone else had a similar problem?

btw, I checked a number of books, including one specifically listed in the link provided with the promo code.

You should head over to kobobooks discount codes thread
The box is somewhere toward the bottom of the page with something like Do you have a gift card or promo code caption?
Did you try different publishers? Not all are couponable depending on where you are.

There are quite a few books in the Kobo store which are not covered by promo codes and you will not see the box. Some are publishers who do not allow their ebooks to be discounted while others, as near as I can tell, are done by the country Kobo thinks you are connecting from.

There are also glitches such as when I picked up a 75% code from one of their trivia contests and I could not use it on a book listed in the advertising for the contest. Customer service did credit me for the discount after a few minutes on the phone. The person on the line with me was equally mystified as to why the code did not apply.

Depends on which site you're getting. On the old site the box only appeared on eligible books, but with the new site it appears for all books whether they can be couponed or not.

There is no special link. What you get depends on what regions store you're accessing and also what browser you're using.

yes I know the feeling - if you want to be doubly sure, try first with a "penny book": you won't be charged until you approve in the second page. Also, if you are in a country where Paypal is allowed, then nothing should go through until you authorize the paypal transaction.

Thanks, this is the info I was looking for! I was looking for the promo code box on the first page, where it asks if I have a gift card. I've tested with a 99c book and the promo code box has turned up. Now to wait for the next big promo code...

yes, I know the feeling of anxiety: but if you have a paypal option, that is also one to try, as you won't be charged until you put your paypal password in.
